Cornell University Equine Hospital
930 Campus Rd, IthacaCornell is one of those places that seems scary as can be for owners with large animals because for years its synonymous with massive vet bills so often owners opt to not call them for help when they need it. That is a mistake. Cornell is capable of handling more than anywhere else, more efficiently than anyone else. There is a few things owners should know before sending an animal down for assesment. Diagnostics are quoted on arrival. You have to pay half to whole of that at that time to proceed. They can do care credit or cards. They have hearts. They want to do the best for the animal as well. When you have a horse in the hospital there, no news from the team isnt a bad thing. Thats a good thing. No news means stable and good. They are often dealing with emergencies and things that are critical and they usually call 2x a day (think of regular hospital rounds, it's the same). If you want to see your horse go down and see the front desk. They will help you. The ladies are amazing. We had a massive surgery done on our 6 year old gelding, and Cornell was the definition of amazing to work with. I would highly recommend them.

2369 N Triphammer Rd, IthacaA special heart felt Christmas message to VCA Colonial Animal Hospital and Dr. Butler, DVM who saved our pup on an August 7th , 2025 ER visit. Her prognosis was not a good one for our Jake. Her Emergency treatment was live saving for him. Now four months following this event, we still have our happy boy….. That is my best Christmas gift this season. Jake is one fighter and we want to wish everyone at VCA Colonial ……. Merry Christmas

Cornell University Hospital for Animals
930 Campus Rd, IthacaFound a severely injured kitten on the sidewalk. Could NOT leave her to die. Brought her up to the hospital and the staff took her right in. They were very nice. They have a Samaritan policy where you can bring a found animal and get it treated without financial responsibility if it’s not yours. I was so worried about having to spend a small fortune on an animal that’s not even mine and was so grateful to have a safe place to leave her for treatment.

Bed and Biscuit of Ithaca - Country Club for Dogs and Cats
419 Van Dorn Rd S, IthacaI've used Bed and Biscuit for two occasions of boarding my dog (4-5 days each). My dog came back happy and clean both times, and tired out from all the fun she had. I really, really appreciate how I get daily pictures of my dog on their Facebook - this is the key reason I chose B&B over other dogsitters available to me. I've recommended this place to others in the past and I'll continue to do so in the future.

Pet-Friendly Restaurants

Dolce Delight
1080 Danby Rd, IthacaAn absolutely adorable spot to grab a bite and a snack. This is a nice cafe spot with some really good food options. We had the harvest salad and “The Diva” breakfast bagel open-faces sandwich. The harvest salad has spinach, apple slices, dried cranberries, walnuts, and cheddar cheese in it, nice and fresh. The diva is decadence. It had cream cheese, avocado, melted provolone, bacon, and it was topped with pico de gallo. It was everything! We also grabbed a couple little truffles because one kind sounded interesting, the other looked like little footballs.
They also have pies and items available for holidays, like Thanksgiving that can be ordered.

Botanist Coffeehouse
1201 N Tioga St, IthacaLots of coffee choices - my latte was great. Just a few pastry choices for food but my cinnamon roll was really good! One in our group had a scone which she loved too. Large enough place to have tables, window stool seating & a comfy couch. Nice atmosphere with plants everywhere. Early on a Saturday morning during college break it was very quiet so we took our time. Would recommend & return if in the area again.

Liquid State Brewing Company
620 W Green St, IthacaThis place is great. So many places do a crap ton of hoppy IPAs and call it a day, but they have a variety of beer styles that are REALLY well made. The garlic knots are solid as well.

We can’t recommend The Rook enough for great food, drinks, and an unforgettable experience??

Bickering Twins Restaurant & Tequila Bar
114 N Cayuga St, IthacaYou might think from the sidewalk that a basement restaurant is not where you want to go, but you would be so wrong. This place is a treasure chest for authentic Mexican and Latin cuisine.
We sat at the bar and Gail was our server. She took us on a journey through the menu and happy hour specials as we had a half hour to go before 6:00 pm. She also showed us the extensive Tequila and Mezcal list which was boasting some 20+ bottlings of each type.
We settled on a variety of scratch made tacos which were expertly prepared, washed them down with Modello Especial and sipped on tequila along the way. For desert, we had the house prepared Flan which was superb.
This place is authentic from beginning to end. Get in here as soon as you can.

Milkstand Restaurant
215 N Meadow St, IthacaLots of great breakfast choices for our group of 5 - had to wait a little for our table but this place is packed & for good reason! Warm, friendly & inviting service - bright, cozy, bustling atmosphere - easy to "customize" our order (I substituted a fruit cup for the included veggies for an up charge and the berries were perfectly fresh!). We all had a great meal - plenty of coffee refills too. Highly recommend & would return if in the area again.
