I would like to start off with the fact that I am a firm believer of supporting small local businesses, I visit this store frequently, as I live a few blocks over, and though they dont always have the best stuff, out of necessity I will purchase here. As I have noticed mentioned in the other comments, people of this neighborhood agree that ever since the original Korean owners have left (or sold off) their business to these new owners, things have gotten noticeably worse (between their selection of produce, quality & prices!!)I had picked up a few green’s and a small pint of heavy cream around 3:30pm today. I came back around 6:15pm as I had discovered the heavy cream was spoiled- I had even told the lady at the register that it poured out in chunks (also the expiration date on it was within the next few days). She denied to exchange or refund & told me to return back the next day to speak with the store manager. I had explained that I had proof on the receipt, and that I was just here a few hours ago. No luck. I realized it was not worth the $5.50 to argue over and I left her with the spoiled heavy cream. What am i going to do with it at this point? keep it.Point is, this was extremely disappointing, we are customers of the neighborhood, it wouldn’t have killed her to allow me to grab something else in exchange (or apologize for the rotten product for the least)

This place is not the same as when the Korean family owned it. They're lacking in many fresh produce. I missed it when they were opened 24- hours before covid time. Its that bad, just not the same

Good sales on good quality fruits and vegetables! Staff are super nice. A lot of the basics and shelved food (soups, pastas, sauces, etc.) is more expensive than nearby supermarkets. But the fruits and veggies are often comparable prices or on sale. I've only shopped here a handful of times so far and I've only seen fresh produce.Bring your own bag because they don't sell cheap 10¢ ones here since plastic bags got banned in NYC a bit ago. The one worker was nice enough to give me a bag the first time I was there, but I think only because she had some leftover from before the plastic bag ban. I didn't bring a bag with me because I wasn't expecting to buy as much stuff as I did, so I was grateful she had extras.

This is my favorite store in the area to get whatever I need with a friendly staff (pretty sure it's family run) and decent prices + good quality and selection! You'll find fresh organic veggies & fruit, many Korean and other Asian items like freshly made kimchi, beer, eggs, snacks, and other odds and ends. Plus, free re - usable bag thumbs up. Clean too!

My experiences with Joy Fruit have been 1,000 times better than the place across the street! For a start, Joy Fruit has a price sticker on every single item in the store - unlike the store across the road where there are NO prices, and everything is lined up behind the wrong item/price, so that you have to watch them like a hawk at the register. I have also had NO problems with using my debit card at Joy Fruit; they seem honest and friendly. Some of the pricing is a bit on the high side, and I'd like to see a bit more variety with some items, but it's a small store so they do their best. I wish I could do ALL of my shopping here, but it's not really possible, unfortunately.
