We had confirmed with Enterprise that the JFK office would remain open to accommodate our late arrival both prior to our trip and then once more when we were notified that our flight was delayed. However, upon arrival at JFK, we found the office closed, and we were unable to pick up our rental as planned. We called Enterprise customer service, and it was suggested that my husband, four kids and I wait at the airport for four additional hours until the office opened at 5am. We had already been traveling for 12 hours and still had a 3.5-hour drive home, so this was not an option. As a result, we were forced to rent a car from another company at the last minute, which ended up costing us nearly double. I contacted customer service both at JFK and at the corporate office, which was useless. At least the corporate rep responded and told me that someone from JFK would be in touch. It has been almost 3 weeks and we still have not heard anything. Awful customer service, I will never rent from them again.
**Update**
My husband called customer service 3 times - each time having to explain our experience since there was no record of previous conversations. The last rep told us that a manager and regional manager would be in touch within a couple of days - that was two weeks ago. We are so frustrated with the lack of customer service we continue to receive. I would stay away from this company!!!!

A company that is not willing to abide by its own policies. Makes it virtually impossible to rent with a debit card while not telling you so when you are making a reservation, then gives you the runaround with interpretation of small print after you're stranded in-town (after a 10 hr flight).

I’m really unsatisfied with every time the printer is out of order or you say I cannot have a receipt when picking up my car it’s important to have a receipt when picking up my car because then if I get stopped by the police, I have something to prove that I rented the car Everyone does not function using a phone or technology paper is sometimes good why are you apprentice always out of order?

We would never rent a car here again.
We booked through one of their partners.
At the time of collection, even though we had specified everything. We showed understanding and, although not satisfied, having no choice, I accepted a category change (they promised me a 200 dollar discount). However, they guaranteed that the car would still be a 4x4 as expressly requested and reserved by us.
But instead they made a new contract and we lost the deposit from the first contract and, furthermore, a very serious thing, the car was not a 4x4.
Luckily it didn't snow much as it usually happens, but the fact remains that we lost the deposit of 374. Furthermore, we no longer received a refund of the discount they offered for the change of category (around 200 dollars), nor the one from offered to them for failure to comply with the fact that the vehicle was not 4x4 as warranted.
All this after speaking with them for a long time.

No matter what car I booked, when I arrived, I was met by someone else.

Little to no help when needed. Coming from a large company this is a shame. No cars available when the lot is full of cars.

I actually really enjoy Enterprise. I’ve used them in several locations. The customer service is always great. However, today (rented from the JFK location) I rented a car and it seemed that it was given to me in the same state it was returned by another customer. It was dirty inside and outside. If that’s how is going to be from now on, then I will have to rent from other car rental companies.

Overall customer service was good. I'm not sure if it's the management or principals at this particular location, but doing a switch out of a mechanically plaqued (all safety features disabled and service required) vehicle was a headache. Waiting an hour one night just to be offered Mitsubishi Mirage when you're currently in a Jeep Compass. With us being there till 1130pm and the branch closing at 1200am and multiple cars available I found this questionable. It was confirmed the following day that this location does not like to do switch outs if the vehicle's final destination is other than theirs. To the point they will provide you with the most used and abused vehicle at their location hence giving me a vehicle that smells heavily of smoke with cigarette burns in the seat and almost 5000 miles past its necessary oil change. I assumed it's a different experience if you rent and return at that location, but if not try another location first. In all regards enterprise shouldn't have a mechanically unsound and a vehicle that smells heavily of smoke in their inventory.

Enterprise is generally good because the rates are excellent. My only issue is the excessive hold that they put on your credit card if you're local. Specifically at the JFK airport, but I guess that has to do with the fees that goes along with renting from an airport. In the end the excessive charge actually outweighs the fact that their rates are generally less expensive then their competitors. The return process is smooth when it goes right. Keep in mind when dealing with outside travel companies like Expedia, Priceline and Hotwire, additional fees are not taken into consideration so always contact the rental car agency to find out what the actual charges are, which is really not that much more. To note there was damage in the van I rented but they made me comfortable driving ot because i was immediately told about it and it was notes in their books. That means that they really pay attention to details. I was also shown how to drop and lower the seats, so I could get full use of the room inside of the mini-van. Now that's patience! Those guys are great at the JFK location. Upon my return, I had an incident with one of the rental car return agents. There were three at the JFK location and the tall dark-skinned afro-caribbean or African American agent was extremely rude. As an African-American myself, he's an embarrassment. I won't go into details, but regardless of your race, ethnicity and religion, try to avoid him if you can with any conversation. If you need details about your rental and need to conduct business because he's just a total idiot and UNHINGED just talk to another return agent. I frequent the airport often and I guess he didn't realize, who he was actually speaking to, because I understood and understand the entire return process. I used to work for Hertz Car Rental. I've never experienced anything like it in the 30 years I've been renting cars here and internationally. I did speak to management, and hopefully they will pull him to the side and make him realize that jobs nowadays are very valuable. I'm putting this in the review because we have a lot of people coming into the airport and they do not need to be subjected to a rude rental car return agent. Airports can be harrowing enough. The other rental car return agents on the property where extremely helpful and terrific as well as the agents at JFK's front desk. I would like to say thank you to the Enterprise Team for making my rental pleasant when I picked up. The return should have been more smooth but I do not blame the location, and they should not have to apologize for a rude employee.

Normally I never have an issue with Enterprise but this time the “manager”was so unprofessional in the way he was handling my situation. Instead of offering help he basically dismissed me and my business since he has been the manager for “two whole years”. And he kept saying 100 percent as a response. I have been managing over 50 retail store managers for over 15 years and I would never allow any of my employees to treat our customers in such manner. Enterprise you have to do better with customer service training and these managers. I had to take my business to Hertz. This happened nov 21 at 8:20am.

Rented a vehicle for a short stay. Let me start off by saying, I never get the insurance.
We got a vehicle and the insurance and there was damage on it prior to leaving the airport, we pointed it out to the rep. Fast forward us returning it and telling them there was no damage and three days later getting a letter threatening us to report the damage to the vehicle. After we explain it to them that we did no do any damage and what happened they tell us that, "you got the insurance just do the claim".
What! not cool! not gonna play games with enterprise. This branch is full of scammers. If they keep playing with us we will involve our lawyer.

Car was fine except service I’ve come to expect from Enterprise was lacking at JFK. Didn’t explain the gas options - I prepaid for an empty tank and didn’t travel far so basically, I bought Enterprise a tank of gas. Then the staff at the car showed me nothing on the workings of the car. I had to figure it out myself. Hoping the experience was a JFK thing (👎) and not an Enterprise thing.

Getting to the car from the airport was awful. Enterprise is off site due to JFK airport construction. Check was fast. Car was filthy. I was told it was just washed. Getting in and out of the facility was again awful. Spaghetti on top of spaghetti. So many curves and turns. Next time I’ll rent next to hotel. Why no shuttle from airport to enterprise?
