They will rip you off if you dare change one little thing on your rental agreement. They more than doubled my bill because I was arriving LATER than expected. Crooks.. then I got a car that smelled like smoke and more car freshener than I have ever smelled before.

Not even a one star I want to give to the horrible customer service. The staff and manager insisted that I must present the physical credit card although had it in my wallet and Apple Pay. They refused to take my debit card I am local and live in NY. They told me if I had a flight booked they would accept my debit. Does that mean you treat local New Yorkers worst that people from outside New York. I just read a review of someone named Irfan who has been in the same situation except the manager accepted the virtual credit card in my case she didn’t. I had to cancel the reservation as I couldn’t waste another 3 hours going back to Manhattan and back to JFK. What a bummer. Apparently staff treats people differently. I see replies from Hertz that they will report these complaints to local management for improvement, apparently no improvement is expected anytime soon. What a bummer I planned a trip during the Easter holiday and was looking forward to a good couple of days. I suggest Those staff at JFK be trained or removed as they are not helpful at all. You guys are horrible and I don’t wish you well. The staff at the counter I think her name is Patricia because she even relayed her name as Pasha to Priceline agent. The manager was nicer thought but had been poisoned by this Pasha or Patricia.

Arriving for a booked car at midnight we were asked to wait for over an hour for a sedan, the most basic of cars an agency like Hertz should have. Another 15 customers, some with children were given the same treatment.Only at 1:30 AM were we given an alternative vehicle and it took about 30 minutes to leave the lot as the processing at the gate was very slow as well, and the car's gas tank was half empty.We paid extra for a reputable company like Hertz, what we got was a real disappointing service.

First time renting from Hertz and it definitely won’t be my last thanks to Jarrel and Karen for saving the day, (the weekend actually) with their amazing customer service. I accidentally booked the WRONG car. When I got there they said it’s electric ( I know boogie oogie oogie). Throwing myself a curve ball, I was going to miss my nieces sweet 16 if I didn’t get a car I knew how to operate because I wouldn’t even know where to plug it in. Then here come Jarrel and Karen with their “ No customer of mine is going to leave here disappointed!” attitude. They worked their magic and came back with an even better offer that I could have imagined. Especially since it was secretly my dream car Remember their names because I will definitely be returning looking for them.

Embarassment to the Brand!Involuntary downgrade from SUV guaranteed reservation - without any reduction in price. Sorry family - we'll need 2 cars now!Failed 5 star pickup. Nothing on board 25 minutes post reservation - nor an hour out after waiting in line. Agent says 25 minutes too long?No humans at any hotline numbers. Easier to refer to a regulator, chargeback, and initiate with BBB than to find a human at Hertz.Truly shameful.

Everytime I've rented car here, there is always an issue. It's either the car I paid for is not available or it takes for ever before the car is ready for pick up. The last time I rented here as a gold member if your name is on the board, all you have do is go to the assigned number/spot and pick up the car. While picking up the car I saw scratches, so I took pictures. But when I was returning the car, I was told I caused the scratches. I told them no! I took pictures and I was trying to show them the pictures, they just said no fill the damage form - it's nothing, someone would call you and you can get it resolved. Only for me to get an email for a claim. A claim for scratches that I didn't cause? The scratches were even old, you can see it. They just want to use me to fix their car.

Horrible customer service.To start, I am a Presidents Circle member - so I should be getting their top line customer service.I came in and went to the counter. Met with Patricia - while she was on the other line speaking to someone about her internet connection options at home.They confirmed me with one price and then gave me another price. I showed them screenshots of the price I was quoted. The manager came and said it is what it is. Too bad. You don’t like it you don’t have to rent it. Did not even try to fix the situation.I left before I was so disgusted. Ended up renting elsewhere a better car for cheaper. This is how they treat their top tier members, how do you think they treat everyone else ?
