Unfortunately I can't give National a good review. My reservation was given to another individual the day prior to my arrival. I called 6 times to National customer service and I get very little help. Finally received a call back from the manager at the counter at JFK, said to see her upon arrival and she would take care of my reservation. Mind you, I use the Emerald Isle so I don't have to go to the counter.When I arrived, I was informed the manager wasn't there and I had to explain to the counter agent and the manager what happened. I had to spend 40 minutes at the counter while they recreated my agreement. Luckily I wasn't charged for the wrong rental. National really dropped the ball with this experience and still no one has explain how someone without an ID that matched the name on the rental reservation was able to take the car.

Our experience was amazing and that’s because of one truly special individual….ADEL in Kentucky! He took our wonderful experience to the next level.Not only did he ensure we received an SUV that we wanted, he brought us bottles of water, and while we were sitting trying to figure out all the bells and whistles in the vehicle, he came back and checked on us!National is usually always good but this particular visit was EXCEPTIONAL and that was because of Adel. Thank you!

BEWARE!!!!!! Do not rent from the company!! Firstly the fact that they take your picture at the counter is incredibly creepy!!!They charged me $48 for ONE TOLL in NYC!! "Administration fees" was there answer!And they have no locations so if for what ever reason you break down you're totally screwed!! My dashboard flickered and I was an hour away from the airport and didn't have time to go back so I had to look at a flashing dashboard for days!!! Horrendous phone customer service!! EVERYTHING about this company seems super stretchy!!!! I think they're using scribes information and selling credit card info - trying calling customer service and you'll see what I mean!! So unprofessional and sketchy business practices l

The folks at the National rental car location at JFK are great! After a long flight, you want your rental car pick-up to be smooth and effortless. That has always been my experience at JFK. Whether it’s the folks at check- in or returning my car, the service and people are friendly and professional. I also want my car to be part of my adventure and I’m always surprised by my car selection, especially when it’s an upgrade at no additional cost! In July National surprised me with a beautiful Mustang convertible and a couple of weeks ago with a really nice pick-up truck!Thanks National, I look forward to my next rental!

Emerald Club is a great thing to have, both my husband and I use it constantly. National is always helpful. The national at JFK, however, was horrible to work with. If I could give 0 stars I would. I suggest, if you like National like me, maybe driving or taking a train to Newark or another National. The extra hour or few is worth avoiding bad customer service. Badly run car rentals only waste time, so chose your location wisely as we all know how stressful travel can be.

My family and I came to JFK to rent a car and our initial interaction with someone named Tanya was subpar. Her tone was ingenuine and she had an attitude.Once we got our paperwork and went outside we were welcomed by a gentleman named Carl who escorted us to our car. He even helped bring some of our luggage. We had many questions because we are not from here and he did a great job making sure all questions were answered. Carl really showed us the national customer service we’re used to.

I Received the best service that i could possibly expect during check-in and check-out. Normally I dont speak with anyone and just pick out a car from the lot and drive out but this time i needed to upgrade so i needed help and the reps were absolutely amazing in getting me upgraded to the car i needed and very quickly! during my car rental return the rep was very thoughtful and made sure my ride had no issues. It was very warm and pleasant speaking with her.

I have been renting with National for years. The simplicity of their system is what keeps me coming back. Their car selection is great. customer support/service is excellent. I forgot something random in the car. They found it and shipped it back to me. Easily could have just disappeared. They provide the service and support you want with a partner. I do not consider another rental car company unless forced to due to car availability. National does what you need them to do very well.

I have been with National for a long time now and they're always surprising me with the way they take care of their customers through their employees.Maria and Justin have depicted to me what customer service is all about. From being kind and courteous to us organically and not because the job requires it. Maria which was out at the front gate, made sure I was ok with the car before leaving. She was very kind, professional and catering to me and my family. Justin who was by far a person who was on a mission to ensure that my rental was everything I hoped it would be then put a family spin on it which I will not forget. They both were phenomenal to me and my family and I thank National for taking the forced business out of the equation and hiring people to really care about their customers.Very refreshing and cudos to National, and again thank you to Maria and Justin, you have made my experience with National awesome and I will continue to be a customer for years to come.

National provides the most seamless rental car experience in the market. Register yourself as an Emerald Club member and instantly walk into your rental. The JFK rental facility is currently under staffed. With that said they take pride in their commitment to provide value to their customers. I rented a brand new Chrysler mini van and the gate agent asked for the keys as I checked out along with my DL and credit card. I was handed back my cards and I ended up driving away and stopped in Garden City (1 hour traffic) only to realize I left the keys! I will say that National customer service and road side are absolutely terrible and they provided no assistance in my situation. Offering only to have the car towed and forcing me to get a new vehicle. Mind you I had my family with me and it was 95 degrees out with humidity. I ended up taking an Uber back to the facility ($100) to get the keys and an Uber ($95) back. Tanya ended up taking care of me and resolved the issue immediately. It was after hours when she contacted me and I appreciate her professionalism and empathy to understand my situation. She also found a way to contact me (especially given the fact my account had my old # on it). When I returned the car later in the week Joe made sure everything was squared away. Overall I highly recommend renting here as the team went above and beyond in a situation that could have gone horrible despite the teams under staffing, the keys being left behind, and my old number being on my account. Get this group more headcount!

Bad experience with the manager at JFK airport,As an EE member I picked up a Wagoneer from the executive isle, when manager Karl Mena radioed the guy at the checkout booth, “DON’T GIVE THIS GUY THIS CAR”Of course it’s based on my very distinct looks………….Trying to speak to so called manager Karl, ended with no results. As he verbally promised me that “You will only leave here with a midsize car”.I was trying to explain to him that we are traveling one adult and four teenagers.I had no choice, took the midsize car, one way rental.S H A M E

I had been a loyal National car rental customer to the highest level of executive elite status. On Father’s Day weekend I rented a vehicle from JFK & simply drove into Manhattan where I overnighted to see my kids. The car went into the hotel parking garage and the next afternoon it came out of the garage and we drove back to JFK airport. 20 minutes later, I received a call from National stating there was damage to the car. From all accounts, we can only assume it was the damage we saw when we picked up the car initially prior to renting it. I say assume because we were never told or shown pictures of any damage - just an accusation.I then was blocked from my online account, was asked to fill out an accident report. I didn’t have an accident or an incident, so why would I fill out a report? I called and talked to several different divisions of National, and was told I had to speak with the damaged car unit. I was on hold for 1 hour and switched between different representatives. It’s been a run around and I’ve tried to explain and reason with them but have had no response.My wife and I are business professionals with extremely clean, driving records and no accidents. If we had an incident or accident, we certainly would’ve reported it. It appears that the damage was the same damage we saw when we picked up the car and now we’ve had a barrage of emails, mail and even a certified letter sent from National.I’m still locked out from renting and they are not letting me used the free rental days I’ve earned either. I am so shocked at this one sided decision they have made and with the process they have initiated so I decided I will no longer use National regardless of the outcome based on their one-sided accusation from a lot person on the cars return to JFK and the “guilty’ with out even speaking to or listening to a loyal customer/renter, with a perfect history and no reason to cover anything up. Just a rotten way to do business.Now I will always be renting from Hertz.

Car was cleaned - low mileage - check out was fast but car was only 3/4 of gas. Told the employee at the booth who told me he would put a note in my record to indicate that the gas tank was not filled. Called customer care to check if the note was put in and it wasn't. Never checked again to see if the note was put in. Decided to return the gas full rather than to trust customer service. Moral of the story, make sure the gas tank is full. Never had to worry about this before but I guess something to consider at this location (JFK).

I'm in the emerald club due to my company.I rented a car from JFK several times, and I have to complement the operation.The cars are clean and in good working order. As a member you can just walk straight to your aisle and pick a car. Checking in is quick and painless. I've had nice experiences several times.The staff at the JFK location is great. Good job everyone.

Thank you for making the rental car aspect of my work travel so simple and seamless. The staff are always so friendly and helpful, the cars are always immaculate and late model, and I like choosing my own vehicle. My work finds me traveling through several airports across the US and the experience is the same no matter where I go, and where ever that may be your staff are just as professional. I choose National every time.
