Parents and young adults beware - don't get stranded!!Heading back to college in Chicago after break, my 19 yr. old son made a reservation to stay here overnight with a friend who was accompanying him. The booking app he used noted they allow adults aged 18+ to book and check in. He chose this hotel as it is approximately halfway between home and college. After driving 9 hrs. and arriving at the hotel at 11pm, he was told he could not check in because he wasn’t 21. The night "manager" would not allow check-in, even after being shown the booking app that clearly stated the age 18+ check-in allowance. She had no issue with turning out two 19 yr. old adults at 11pm instead of working with me, a parent, to get authorization and consent to allow an exception in the extraordinary circumstances. The "manager’s" actions were unconscionable. Being forced to find lodging at a late hour, I called the nearby Hampton Inn. The manager at this establishment was very helpful and willing to allow my son and his friend to check in. She noted both hotels are owned by the same corporate group, with no restriction on adults aged 18 and over checking in. The Holiday Inn Express employee did not show decency, compassion, or flexibility in an unusual circumstance. After speaking with guest services a couple of days later, I was informed that the night "manager" was not a manager. To their credit, the hotel apologized for the incident and refunded the room charge to the booking app, who then refunded my credit card.

This Holiday Inn Express was conveniently located along my route driving east across the country. It was fairly easy to find a place to park my 20-foot moving truck and trailer in their lot, which was important. A pleasant surprise was how enthusiastically the two young women at the front desk reacted to my pet rat. When I brought his cage in, they wanted to meet him! So, they spent a little time holding and petting him, which he enjoyed. My room was comfortable (I especially appreciated the lighted workspace and the modern bathroom), and the breakfast was good. I recommend the cheese omelette and the fried peppers/onions/mushrooms. A nice combo to start the day. Oh, hah hah, one of the staff had drawn smiley faces on all the oranges, so, of course, I had to take one of those with me.So cute! Checkout was equally pleasant. I would stay at this location again.

Nice hotel in a good location. My room was clean and well maintained. Service was okay. Decent breakfast included.

Me and my kids can’t wait to stay there again! We love the manger she is the sweetest and funniest and utterly most hard working woman. But the employees there as well are always helpful too. I have called and they are so helpful always!

We stayed one night and had breakfast there on the morning of August 12. I mentioned in passing to one of the breakfast workers that, in all our travels this summer, there was no bacon to be had, only sausage. Immediately, Pam offered to fix up some bacon for me; I told her, no, don't bother, she would be inundated with similar requests from other people. Not to be deterred, she and Samantha proceeded and in a few moments brought out 7 to 9 strips of bacon, crispy to perfection. Pam & Samantha deserve a hearty round of applause (and I told them I'd put in a plug for a raise for each of them...) for going well above the norm in performance of their duties and treatment of a guest.Noteworthy details: see above...

My stay was highly enjoyable! I ended up extending for another night due to weather, but was very happy to stay another night in this fantastic hotel. Delaney, at the front desk, is a huge asset to your organization, and provided fantastic customer service.

Our room was fresh, clean, and mostly well stocked. We weren't given enough towels for the 4 of us that were checked in there. Beds were SO comfortable and pillows too! Slept beautifully. Location was good but not great, a little tricky to find as there is a sign depicting where to turn for the Hampton but not the Holiday Inn Express. Breakfast was great but NOT well stocked!!!! Supposed to go until 9:30 a.m. but upon our 9 a.m. arrival was mostly empty with no intentions to refill. No cinnamon rolls, eggs, meat, milk, bagels, forks, etc. Very disappointing when you pay for breakfast and there's nothing there- and should be full until 9:30 a.m. That's what they advertise as their policy. Pool closes at 10 p.m. also-which we also found strange-was expecting 11 p.m. so it seemed a bit early, especially considering that it is completely closed off from hotel rooms so noise wouldn't be an issue. Overall a good stay but if you desire breakfast get there early!! :)

This is more the standard I look for with Holiday Inn Express. Some of the older HIE are getting worn but this one was built sometime after 2016. Entrance is q little tight and so is parking if you have a big vehicle but great stay in my book. Only drawback if you have a first floor room as I did is that breakfast can get noisy in the AM. But I'd rate this in the top quarter for Holiday Inn Express which has become my go to hotel. Not the Sheraton or Four Seasons but def def not Super 8 or Red Roof Inn if you catch my drift.

The staff was great & very kind. However I could barely sleep that night because of the temperature of the room. The AC turns on/off automatically. I couldn't even keep my eyes open the next day for barely sleeping.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were comfortable and toiletries provided were good quality. The hotel smelled very strongly of cleaning chemicals during our first two days though that did go away after a bit. The pool was not filled, unfortunately, and we were not aware of that at the time of booking. They did allow us to utilize the pool at the neighboring sister hotel (Hampton inn) which is just a short walk across the parking lot. I was very pleased with most aspects of my stay!

And the security deposit of 200 I was told we will get back after the room is checked that was 5 days ago and we still waiting

Room was clean and spacious. Located right off the interstate. Good service from the staff and an excellent breakfast. Only complaint I had was that the toilets tank leaked into the bowl so the toilet would occasionally run throughout the night.

Pretty decent place. The only reason is that not 5 stars was housekeeping service skipped us one day, and despite the pool room being 80+ degrees, the pool itself was cold. I really liked the 10pm quite time they promoted.

The beds were awful. There was not much noise abatement, so a lot of noise from the TV in the room next door and inconsiderate people in the hallway. And one night our floor wreaked of pot. Not exactly what I wanted for my children. Nothing was done about it, and the windows don't open to allow for fresh air.Room wasn't always serviced. When it was, it was just towels and trash. Maybe this is the new norm, but I might as well stay in a rental instead. Breakfast was good, at least for kids. I have celiac so there were limited options, but they did have individual servings of cheerios and fresh fruit. They ran out of lots of key items though. No milk one morning, which makes cereal tough. Also tough for a child who drinks milk every morning. The man who took care of breakfast worked his tail off but really needed help. It was more than a single person job.

I found BED BUGS not in my room but in the lobby of the hotel. I never checked in but was told the issue would be resolved (the staff was good). Don't recommend unless you already have
