Shopping at Ruby Sue has been the most enjoyable retail experience for me over the last 20 years that I have been supporting this beautifully curated women, owned small business. I love coming in, because the women working there truly know how to mix and match the merchandise to make you feel good about almost anything you try on! I always leave feeling like I've gotten a style refresh; fun and confident going into the rest of my days. This is not only because of the ever changing inventory, but it is because of the kind hearted nature of the knowledgeable staff. These women go out of their way to make sure every one feels beautiful in what they try on, and themselves! They do this without feeling pushy, which is so important to me when shopping. One more thing I would like to mention is that over the years of shopping here, I have come to know that this business was started by a single mother, who raised and supported her family through the support of our local community. She in turn has hired other local women, mothers whom use this opportunity to support their families as well!"When you support a local business, you are celebrating the uniqueness of your community!"

I never leave reviews but this really worked me up. Used to love coming here from time to time, but after my latest experience, I will never be back. It’s worth mentioning that every time I went into this store previously, I had to almost prepare myself for the customer service. There’s one woman who works at this shop, unsure if she’s the owner or an employee, who always has the most awful attitude and really sours the experience here. I tried to return an unused pair of earrings that I had bought as a gift. The receipt shared no specifications for returns, just that “all items are gladly accepted as long as there’s a tag attached”, so I came in to ask. The woman working was the unfriendly one, so I had a feeling I’d have an issue. She wordlessly accepted my return, then condescendingly spat at me when I politely asked about their refund policy. Fully interrupted me mid-sentence to say they typically don’t accept refunds for accessories but she was “doing me a favor this time”, completely rude and nasty, talked down to me, aggressive for absolutely no reason. I couldn’t even focus on shopping for my store credit after that because I was so offended and anxious, I had to come back another day. The woman working that day was not friendly either but at least polite. If you don’t accept accessories back, totally fine. I would’ve been okay with that, since most stores don’t allow it. But to not clearly state your refund policy on your receipt or somewhere in store (which is illegal in NYS, by the way), openly accept my return anyway, and then get worked up when I politely ask questions about your policy is absolutely ridiculous. I mentioned my experience to friends in the area and no one was surprised by it, they all knew which woman I was talking about without a name or description. I wouldn’t shop here again even if they paid me to and I enthusiastically encourage others to avoid them, as well.
