So unprofessional. Zero customer service. The owner is super cheap; he keeps the heat turned off in the cold winter months!

If you want a gym where you can focus on your fitness goals, use high end lifting equipment and make a few friends, you can't go wrong with a membership here. Support small business whenever you can, get strong while doing it.

I am someone who likes to go to the gym in the morning before work. I enjoy the selection of equipment and the turf space for sleds. Before joining the gym I did some research and saw it was a power lifting gym. I am an average guy and by no means a body builder. That slightly intimidated me at first but everyone was very welcoming. So welcoming that I got my girlfriend to join. There is a community vibe that comes with a family owned business and I have never felt uncomfortable or intimidated no matter if i was going consistently for 6 months or my first day back after taking a few months off. My experience has been nothing but positive. The monthly membership with the open gym and unlimited classes is one of the better deals you will find in the area. I do not know of any place in the Hudson Valley where you can open the bay doors when it's nice out to get a lift in. It's a nice and unique touch when the weather is nice. Well worth checking out if you are considering joining a gym.

Went here over my spring break and won't be returning back staff is really rude to guests and threatened me. Made me very uncomfortable. There are much better gyms out there to be honest

This is such a great gym. I stopped in when I was in town for a convention and I couldn't be more impressed. Great equipment and was never too busy to get a good workout in. I'd take Sport of Iron over a commercial gym any day of the week.

I have been a member of Sport of Iron for over 5 years. My membership was cancelled by Matt because my wife, who has a medical condition, requested heat in the gym. I've never in my life been treated with such disrespect. I am the CUSTOMER, it is colder in this cinder block and steel gym than it is outside. It's outrageous for a customer to have to beg for heat in the dead of winter. Furthermore, this place is a dump, poorly maintained. Matt is more focused on his next job than the day to day here. Gym is dirty, machines are broken and group fitness is filthy. Don't let the sudden 5 star reviews fool you, they are fake, recruited by the owner to offset my review.

EDIT-- So Chris, what's the real reason? I mean you must have been in the gym when I was acting so inappropriately since you're a member. Oh right, you're not a member. Which, by Yelp standards, means you should not even be reviewing this business at all. You're simply a pathetic troll trying to get a rise out of people. But, since the only reason you wrote a review at all was because Matt asked you to, I expect nothing less than deceit and BS from you. And it goes to show you that Matt NEEDS TO SOLICIT REVIEWS in order to get any since before mine, the last one was 4 years ago! Why do you keep glossing over the misappropriation of Covid funds? Can not be because Matt used them to improve the gym because it's in worse shape than ever. I hope next time you go to this dump, you have your duffel bag full of duct tape so you can use those old, decrepit machines that are falling apart! And please read the review in its entirety!! You haven't been to this POS gym in years, so my review has more validity and credibility than yours ever will. You are merely posting to harrass and bully people. Seems that's all you are good for. I am FULLY ENTITLED to my opinion of an establishment that I was a member at. YOU however, are not. In fact, as a non-member, your review is one of the most dishonest reviews on here. worst gym, worst owner. all these 5 star reviews coming in over the last 24 hours is a complete joke. never has any of these individuals on their own made a positive review on yelp, google or anywhere else ever. its matt just telling people to post reviews, even people who have never stepped foot in this gym. great equipment??? lmao, sure, if you like to work out on 5 layers of duct tape which is how the equipment is maintained. it's a filthy establishment with an owner who is too cheap to put on heat or hire an actual staff member to survey the people in the gym, help out a member, instruct in how to use equipment, and actually clean. please do not be fooled by the reviews on here that just came in after my review. for instance, todd said he has been training for 30 years but never once wrote a positive review of this dump. chris m doesn't even live here, has never seen or met me and likely has not stepped foot in this dump. if he has, he has never bothered to leave one positive review until matt asked him to. in fact, the last positive review was over 4 years ago, pre-dating matt taking over the gym. matt has turned it into a complete dump and does not care about the gym in any way at all, so much that he is starting another job and plans to leave this gym completely unattended, giving members a key fob to get in. so you will have no heat, no music, no fans, no help, nothing, as usual. so take their reviews with a less than a grain of salt because clearly they never thought enough of this place to ever leave a positive review in the past.

I have been a member of every gym franchise under the sun and it wasn't until I joined Sport of Iron that I started to achieve not only my fitness goals, but my personal goals as well. Matt, the owner, has created an inclusive environment for everyone to feel welcome no matter where they are starting on their wellness journey. As a 5'1 female with no weight lifting background, I was definitely intimidated joining this kind of weight lifting gym. Everyone here goes above and beyond to make you feel supported. I am grateful for Sport of Iron in helping me not only improve my physical health but my mental health as well. Definitely check out a class with Xen for a killer work out and good vibes.

This is a terrific gym. It’s no frills in terms of change rooms, but they’re sufficient. More important, it’s astoundingly well-equipped and spacious. Tons of squat racks and areas for sled pulls, etc. It’s an incredible value and owned/managed with integrity.

I joined this community about a year ago and had my first session with the owner. I gotta say he is a master of his trade. He explained the body mechanics of what he had me do. I felt educated and well worked out. The gym itself is a great space. I feel safe there in the face of covid19. High ceilings & big garage doors that are open in the summer and people keeping respectable distance from one another. Al in all a really good facility and vibe.

One of the best powerlifting gyms I’ve been to. They have a room that is specifically geared to comp lifts. Our new spot when we go to Kingston! Thanks for welcoming us to your gym!
