This morning I took time out of my work schedule to run over to the Western Union location, 485 Broadway, here in Kingston, NY to retrieve monies I have had waiting for over a week. It was more practical to go during the morning hours because the afternoons are busy and its harder to run errands quickly. However, I was semi-rudely turned away because the Rite-Aid did not have enough money in the draw to process the $175 transaction at 9am. The clerk explained that Rite-Aid processes these transactions as a "courtesy" and I should just go to another location. I couldn't believe my ears! The manager Chris confirmed the statement. Pardon me, but I thought Western Union was a legitimate business, not a favor processing service. You would think that a store like Rite Aid would have reserves in their safe for such issues and that workers, especially management would do all they can to solve a simple problem as such. I am highly disappointed with the entire process; I may have to look for other ways to process person-to-person financial transactions, perhaps online, since they take less time than going to a physical location and dealing with idiots. -SBW
