Hours: Double H Ranch is a special camp located in the beautiful Adirondack forest, dedicated to providing a magical experience for children with severe disabilities and chronic illnesses. The camp is known for its loving and caring environment, where volunteers and staff go above and beyond to ensure every camper feels welcomed, supported, and valued. Many campers, some of whom have juvenile idiopathic arthritis and other illnesses, look forward to their annual visits, which offer a chance to escape the challenges of their everyday lives and connect with others who understand their experiences. The staff at Double H Ranch is highly dedicated, making sure that all needs are met, whether it be helping with mobility, managing dietary restrictions like gluten intolerance, or simply providing a friendly face. Camp activities, such as the ropes course, are designed to give participants the freedom to do things they might never do at home, like walking on hills or trying new adventures. Even during times when cabins eat separately due to COVID-19 precautions, counselors ensure that every camper is taken care of, including running up and down hills to get food or pushing wheelchairs when needed. The camp fosters a warm, welcoming atmosphere, with fun events like a lively welcoming ceremony and opportunities to meet new friends or reunite with old ones. It is a place where campers and their families feel the magic, and where many experience meaningful changes, making Double H Ranch truly a one-of-a-kind and beautiful place.
