Great place to xcski! Groomed, wide corduroy with set track for skis. Well marked trails- maps available at check in desk. Map has cor coded trails for degree of difficulty. They also rent equipment. Reasonably priced used skis, etc also for sale. Clean restrooms in lodge, nice lounge area with tables and chairs to enjoy view or have your lunch. We bring our own. They have hot drinks for sale, not sure about food

The facility recently changed ownership but it seems to be operating pretty similarly.
You can get your gear tuned up in the shop or rent some gear to try out XC skiing or showshoe-ing.
The trails are well groomed and easy to navigate. A beautiful property.

Skied here for the first time ever, and was so happy we did! I know this review is coming at the end of private ownership, but still wanted to say what a great place. The staff members we interacted with were so friendly, helpful and inviting. Being spring skiing, the water in the brook was flowing with runoff, and the trails were incredibly peaceful. My wife and I had such relaxing runs around the trails. We were skiing classic, and it was actually nice to have only other classic skiers out with us. Just created a slower and more aligned experience for the time we were there. There was also a wood ski gathering happening one of the days. Seemed like a tight group, all very friendly and easy-going folks. Looked like a fun group. Great place with a friendly vibe, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and amazing trail system.

We love this place and the staff. Great shop. Trails are beautiful. The building has a lot of ADK character. You will love this place whether you are new to X Country skiing or experienced.

Actually, I haven't been here, but wanted to update folks. This center was purchased by the Adirondack Mountain Club this year, is being renovated, and plans for all the possibilities this site offers are not yet complete. If you're thinking of going, please be sure to call first to be certain it's open and offers what you're looking for.

Cascade Cross Country Ski Center is a pleasant overall location to get some time in on your skis across several well-groomed trails. Large parking lot, friendly staff; you'll be on the trails in no time. In previous years, I have rented boots, skis, and poles from them at a reasonable cost. Staff took their time to make sure everything was comfortable and in good order. Equipment was in excellent shape and perfect for my needs! When I was new to cross country, this location was a great place to try things out and get the hang of things. Some small ups and downs through most of the trails. Generally no skate-skiing here. On my most recent visit, the conditions were somewhat icy and several of the more moderate/difficult trails were closed off. Not to worry as there is plenty of other space to traverse. Very picaresque and cozy. You are nestled into pines heavy with snow. Even with a number of other people out in the woods, you get plenty of alone time as well. A decent option at an affordable price.

Everyone is so friendly and the trails are perfect for spending some time in the woods. Beginner friendly but offers a lot of hill challenges. We can’t wait for the restaurant to open back up :)

Lots of groomed trails to spend a few hours in the beautiful woods and around a pond. Plenty of trails for beginners!

Nice lodge and friendly staff. Could do better in maintaining the tracks. Also would be nice if the trails are one way, so it’s safer and easier especially for beginners.

Went with a group of 8 to go snowshoeing and had an amazing time! It was $20 to rent shoes and $15 for a trail pass to go right on the property. Very clear and spacious trail paths, absolutely beautiful scenery. It wasn't too crowded and we only passed maybe 4 or 5 cross country skiers. If going in a bigger group I recommend going early, we went when it opened and had zero wait, but there was a line form by the time we left around 11 am

This was quite beautiful. It just felt like we were always going uphill! and I love hills, it just didn't seem like I ever went down it was constantly up. It defies physics!

Good ski location. Limited selection because of Covid-19 by report, but they had the correct boots for replacement for the adults. Rented for children. Convenient that you can rent for multiple days and take off site. I would return. It was a touch icy, beginners struggled a bit on hills, but I loved the location and skiing.

Excellent cross-country center less than 10 miles from downtown Lake Placid. We have our own skis and snowshoes so all we had to do was buy a ticket and get a map. For cross-country skiers there really are not any beginner trails as you always have to negotiate site inclines. Overall very well Marked and very well groomed. We took a break and then went out for another 2 1/2 hours of snowshoeing following the jackrabbit trail. Before we hit the jackrabbit trail we went on one of the snowshoe exclusive trails which was fabulous inside what could have passed for the Black Forest in Germany. Very well groomed but just enough work to make it fun. We took the jackrabbit trail toward Lake Placid for about a mile and 1/2 to the hostiles on route 73. At which point we turned around. We were in the last one in the park. Will be going back there again.
