I had some tire noise that needed a diagnosis and was told I need new rotors on all 4 wheels for $1300. It didn't seem correct so I got a second opinion from Midas. Not only were the rotors ok, it had nothing to do with the noise. I just needed new shocks for the rear wheels. Be careful with this shop, either they don't know what they're doing or they're trying to rip you off.

George was incredibly helpful with providing transparent information about the service. He is very proactive with his time, reasonable, straightforward, and honest which helped us out on what would’ve been a stressful experience. I highly recommend!

I was in on 7/31/25 due to my check engine light coming on and throwing some serious codes, crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor, catalytic converter below threshold, and the car was pretty much about to jump time. I was taken in rather quickly and that was awesome. But when I was told that they would look my car over, that’s what I was expecting them to do. I received a phone call from the manager telling me that it wasn’t looking good and that I should tow it to a dealer cause it needed a new manifold piece that was special. He couldn’t fix it. He didn’t look any further than that because I had my vehicle towed to Ithaca Auto Service, great place by the way. John is the best to work with. They found that my vehicle had 2 quarts low on oil and the exhaust piece was perfectly fine. The engine being so low on oil, it was performing really terrible. And it was about to blow up. I’m sure of it. But they didn’t look past what the fancy 120 dollar computer read out said. Even though my receipt has a “free courtesy vehicle inspection” on it. It was probably the worst auto service I’ve ever received and i would much rather try my luck at the Monroe on Elmira road.

The only way I recommend this place is if you are looking to get scammed. I stupidly let myself get scammed knowing they run bad business. Will vastly overcharge you for repairs you do not need and do it with a smile.
I came in with squeaking and grinding noises from my car. I left with my old perfectly fine brake pads in hand, a whole set of new break pads and rotors (that are way too overpriced), and they didn’t put the correct miles on my sheet, so that screws those parts warranty. $2200 for brake pads, rotors, and changing brake differential fluid. Some of the charges included almost $40 just to lift my car to look at it. Then the next day I drive my car and it still is making the exact noises I went in for!
I took my car into the mechanic I normally go to three hours away and found out my rear drive shaft was in terrible condition. Seems like they didn’t look deep enough into the actual issue of my car. If I didn’t get the actual issue diagnosed of my car I could have lost complete control of my wheels. Putting myself and others in danger.
I also knew someone else who went here to work on their car and they found out they charged $1000 more than other mechanics would have for the repairs.
I get these workers are being overworked, but damn how do you go home to your family knowing you spent your day ripping people off of almost their entire month earnings.

Above and beyond. While away from home, my wheel bearings gave in. This team-George, Leslie and John jumped to replace two bad wheel bearings, have sensors at the ready if they were broken during the extraction and suggest rental options on a weekend where availability was zero! When faced with a challenge to get parts, same day, George called-in a few favors and made it happen. They were kind, encouraging and SO efficient. Kudos to you for providing excellent customer and a trustworthy vehicle to get me home.

My serpentine belt broke and I needed to replace it. I purchased my belt and for hours I attempted to put it on. I've replaced belts on my other vehicles, but this one took it to my limits. Mind you, this all took place a hundred yards in a parking lot near Monroe. I went into Monroe many times to as for advice and the went above and beyond to help me. One employee even walked over to my truck to look at it for me. After 7 hours I gave up and went home. I called Monroe and scheduled an appointment. I pulled in Monroe, they we're all familiar with the incident, took my truck pooped the hood and had the belt on in record time, 6 minutes tops. I've never had any mechanic shop give me so much help as these guys. I will forever use their services.

I’ve been a loyal customer of Monroe Muffler for years due to their convenience, reasonable pricing, and past efficiency. Unfortunately, my last two experiences have been incredibly frustrating and disappointing.
The first issue occurred when an online appointment for an oil change on our truck turned into a multi-day ordeal — something that should have been simple and quick. The second time, despite having a confirmed appointment via email, I was told we had no appointment on record and couldn’t be helped. When I asked how we could prevent this from happening again or ensure our appointments are recognized, the response I received was simply: “I don’t know.”
This kind of shrug-off answer is not helpful, especially when people rely on these services to keep their schedules running smoothly — particularly parents or anyone with limited time. If the online system doesn’t work reliably, just be transparent and tell customers to call instead.
I'm leaving this review not out of anger, but in the hope that it helps other customers make informed decisions and encourages Monroe to improve their appointment process.

Very friendly staff, offered to put on cartoons for my 3 year old while we waited for my oil change. Love that they are open later and they got me in same day within a couple hours of me calling. Highly recommend!
