Mamaroneck Artist Guild has a new space! A small, beautiful gallery on Palmer Ave. The annual high school student exhibition is an example of the guilds commitment to the community BUT they offer exhibitions of diverse art - from shows of individual guild members to group exhibits that all demonstrate the diversity of creative expression in the visual arts in the larger Mamaroneck community.

ArtsWestchester, led me again to another art gallery in Larchmont. The Mamaroneck Artist' Guild has a rich art history dating back to 1955. Currently, MAG still continues to get a good handle on artists from the tri-state area. It's a small gallery featuring new-to-the-scene artist as well as free events. Went for a double-feature with two very distinct artists. I love black and white. And I also love flowers and both meshed beautifully. For this piece, MAG held the 'Shouts and Whispers'- White On White/Black on Black, exhibit. Where photographer, David Stein mirrored the same flower in both black and white to enhance both colors and their unique qualities. The white version, highlighted the nice lines of certain flowers, while the black version, put a beautiful spotlight on delicate shadows and curves. On the other end, Larry Gordon, who's art turned out to be more colorful focused on an abstract style. While I must admit that both works were mastered pleasantly, I loved the White on White/Black on Black- just because it brought out bold and raw beauty. MAG is a quaint gallery and can browse their latest exhibits. It a fabulous neighborhood gallery showcasing art in several mediums, such as, sculpture, painting or photography.
