The American Hotel of Lima is a very quaint and historic local gem, an old hotel from the 1800s. It is a beautiful older hotel with a restaurant and bar, featuring an old cash register and phone booth, offering a warm, no-frills atmosphere. The food is excellent, like a warm hug to the belly, focusing on great comfort food. The menu includes items like a grilled cheese, a flavorful turkey reuben, and a chicken spiedie that is to die for. They always have a great variety of five to seven delicious soups, with the split pea being a favorite. They also host "comfort food" nights that always hit the spot, and even their tossed salads are on point. The service makes you feel like family, with nice folks and old school principles. The staff are some of the kindest people, providing excellent service. It is considered a must-see on route 5&20.
