This is one of the few times 5 stars is not enough. Everything about Dano’s was better than excellent! We ordered the schnitzle (gluten free), goulash, spatzle, red cabbage, mashed potatoes and sauerkraut for our main course. Each dish was spectacular although the goulash stole the show. For dessert it was braised pear and strudel. Both delicious but the strudel was amazing. The mulled wine was also great! Service was impeccable. I only wish we got there earlier to see the sunset and the lake.Dietary restrictions: Many items are listed as GF or they can make them special. Like the schnitzel!

The scenery is gorgeous, with the restaurant being right on the shore of Seneca lake, and amongst several beautiful vineyards. The atmosphere inside is warm and welcoming, with great views. Everything we ordered was delicious, from the artisanal bread to the pork platter and chocolate torte. The wine selection was excellent, as was expected.

Had an absolutely incredible experience at Dano's. We did a chefs table dinner shared with the four of us. Incredible beer, cocktails, and of course stellar food. The spreads, breads, sausages, schnitzel, salads, everything was amazing. We were so lucky to enjoy the sunset on the back patio. We are so sorry that we forgot our servers name, but she was absolutely incredible and treated us so kindly. We hope the staff enjoyed the wine we brought along to share.

This is the closest thing you will find to fine dining on the east shore of Seneca lake. Friendly staff, great food, and a beautiful building and patio. Excellent desserts, too.

Our large group decided to eat here during our long weekend in the Finger Lakes, and I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area! We had some vegetarians and a vegan in our group, as well as omnivores, and we were all very happy with our meals. Our server was great, helpful with recommendations when asked, and attentive. It was definitely my favorite meal of the tripVegetarian options: They have quite a few vegetarian options on their menu, including a vegetarian version of the Viennese bento box, and many of the spreads and salads

Hidden Gem restaurant. Austrian cuisine very similar to German cuisine. Prices are reasonable and service is very good. The food is very good, and a good variety is on the menu.

The stars aligned for us and we had a pretty perfect dining experience at Dano's. They were busy, so service was a little slow, but it didn't matter to us as we were in it for the long haul and enjoyed a beautiful summer dining experience on their outside patio. Everything from the weather to the vibe/look of the restaurant to the delicious food to our helpful waiter, Will. All fantastic. We started with the soup of the day - which might sound boring (cream of tomato) but it was anything but boring. A vibrant red with so much flavor! It was a perfect start to the meal. For dinner, I had the goulash with spaetzle. This dish was incredible! The sirloin chunks were incredibly tender with tasty root vegetables making an appearance. The sauce had such an incredible depth of flavor. The kind of flavor you get with a skilled cook letting it stew slowly for hours. My spouse (with Will's help) opted for the Farmer's Plate. A meat lover's dream that was thoroughly enjoyed. Save room for dessert because they are houemade. We split a red raspberry Linzer Torte that was a great ending to a perfect dining experience. Thank you to this hard working crew! It was evident to us that you all put the time in to make your restaurant shine. We had a terrific experience!

6 of us went for dinner...the place was not that busy. They had to take our drink order 3 times before we actually got it. The food could have been hotter. Our dinners were ok...nothing that special. The desserts were very dry and not the best tasting. Service was very very slow. Who serves bare noodles? Shnitzel with no gravy? They had 1 imported beer. Very disappointed. We didn't appreciate them automatically adding a tip when there were only 6 of us.

We chose to take our family, who is visiting from Germany, to Dano's. Although the food was superb, the views spectacular and the waitress very attentive, the hostess seemed rude and unwelcoming.I am not sure if she is the owner or not - if she is, I would recommend either trying be more welcoming or hiring someone; if she is not, they may provide some feedback (given my review is not the first that addresses this).

This place was recommended by a bartender at a high-end Ithaca restaurant, and it did not disappoint! Gorgeous setting for a summer lunch. The restaurant has a food garden out front and lots of fruit trees on the large property, and a large grass yard behind the open air back patio dining area. The whole restaurant has gorgeous views of Senaca Lake. There was only one waitress working the whole outdoor patio the day we were there, but she was attentive and made great recommendations. The white wine by the glass (there are only 2, despite being in wine country) were both terrific. My husband and I shared the bento boxes, one with meat and one vegetarian. They were both great. The sausage was delicious and came with a spicy mustard that was outstanding. Incredible bread with a delicious Austrian spread. Local summer squashes were a highlight— fresh, light and well-seasoned. The mashed potatoes were also delicious, as was the sautéed cabbage. The salads were good but a bit heavy-handed with vinegar — even for vinegar-based salads. The fresh plum and labneh ice cream (made with plums from the restaurant’s plum tree) was a delightful surprise: unusual flavor from the labneh, and super delicious, especially with the blackberry compote. A perfectly lovely way to spend a gorgeous late summer day on the lake.

A gem on the east side of Seneca Lake. Delicious food, dog friendly, on the patio, which was lovely . Excellent service and amazing desserts. Can't wait to return.

A truly excellent and unique restaurant, the best dining experience I have had in a long time. The food was fantastic and the outdoor seating very comfortable and beautiful. I recommend the Viennese bento box, it offers the opportunity to try many dishes and flavors, and the portions are generous. Returning to Dano’s will be the top of my list when I am back in the area.

If you’ve seen the movie “The Menu” this is the Seneca Lake equivalent however without the tragic ending. Watch the movie then go to this place because the food is phenomenal, maybe you’ll see the connection.
In all seriousness great place to eat, recommend reservations in advance, if you love German cuisine this is a must while in the Lake Seneca region. Indoor and outdoor seating, it’s just a fantastic place and would tell anyone to go and give it a rip for the experience and food.
