Service was nice, great options if you're looking for some snacks or food, the placement of the snacks and food were all neat, the staff were nice and calm, you could have a conversation with them if you could try, the aura in that store was calm and relaxing.10/10 would go back

I stumbled on this place completely by accident while passing by it on the street. Looking in the window, I realized it was a cute mom and pop Japanese grocery store and hadn't found one in the area yet (I've now come across another but this was the first!). Upon entering, you notice that it is a pretty small space but they try and make use of as much shelf space as possible storing different snacks, some drinks and other assorted items. There was a small Japanese grocery store in Manhattan that I used to frequent so I couldn't help but compare this store to that one (that one is small too but bigger with more variety) which probably isn't a fair comparison. I'll speak to what they have and what they don't. If you're looking for snacks that are nostalgic, check. If you're looking for basic cooking needs like curry, sauces, kewpie mayo, okonomiyaki sauce, mirin, etc, they've got you covered. They even have a small freezer section with different things. They don't carry sake but have teas and other beverages. They don't have much in the way of fresh produce but they do have things like tofu and other refrigerated items. They also don't carry raw sashimi grade fish or frozen shabu shabu meat. They do have some non food items in the back if you're looking for certain household items. When I asked the staff if they carried certain items, everyone was super nice. Note, they do have a $10 minimum to use a credit card. I'll admit I 100% went in there because I was in the mood for shrimp chips. I was super excited when I found that they had hot garlic which is one of my favorite flavors (Calbee brand) so that was a win! If I'm in a pinch or need things they carry, I'll definitely be back!

Great and convenient japanese market in the neighborhood. I love having easy access to asian ingredients. I probably stop in once a week! The workers are always helpful every time I've come in.

Small, claustrophobic feel, so go in when it is not too crowded because it is very hard to move around tight aisles. Adequate to look for basic items but nothing in depth. Wear, the mask when you walk in and use their basket because there is one female there and she has a nasty attitude of disrespect. She barks at you like your a little child and I am her elder. I just tuned her out because I was in no mood to rumble. There was one sales associate there that was nice, an older woman but that younger one, miss wannabee hipster needs an attitude adjustment.

Their chestnut cream tiny pie is excellent. $5 for 5 incredibly creamily light bites. So worth it.

Nothing really has changed since my last review, but I realized there are other better options for Japanese supermarkets than Family Market. The variety of products here are limited and products feel a bit pricer compared to other stores like Sunrise Mart and Dainobu. For instance, I just stopped by but was disappointed that they were out of bean sprouts and shimeji (tbh I'm not sure if they have those in stock regularly). I also wish the store is bigger because when there are 4-5 customers I'm always bumping into someone. Staff here are generally nice and helpful which is a plus. Another positive is that they always have my favorite cake in stock - Orange's roll cake.

Yes there is one cashier who is very nasty. The others are just rude. Beware. There are 5 people working in a tiny space, and not one could make the time to find a product? Good luck to you madams.

Best Japanese convenience store and grocery in the area. They have a pretty good selection of packaged and fresh food Japanese products. Staff is very nice. Only wish is that they could be bigger but they have quite a lot of stuff for the small space.

I'm so happy I found this place! If you're ever wanting to cook an Asian recipe you've been dying to try but was unsure because of lack of ingredients have no fear, Family Market is here! This place isn't just for picking up quick microwaveable Ramen (though they have way better version) but if you want to make certain cuisines (like ramen) from close to scratch, they have a lot of the items to help such as ramen, egg roll / rice wraps, curry roux, etc.The staff is super helpful and know everything very well.Honestly, if you walk by give this place a peek and take note of all the things they have for your next asian recipe inspiration!Definitely the place I'll be getting all my key ingredients from versus the International section of key foods.
