UNFCU is bureaucratic to the extreme! They won't consider individual circumstances and don't care about its members to the slightest! They will instead provide a canned reply to all your attempts at resolving an issue. Plain and simple, UNFCU sucks!!!

One of the worst client service in banks anywhere. No one picks up the phone, no one in the chats, days to answer an email. Forget about having an urgent need for a financial service, when even regular services like a simple bank transfer takes a lot of effort to get it done!!

I had an excellent experience working with David Wald for my first home loan. I am terrible with paperwork, timeliness, and organization -- it's a miracle I somehow managed to buy an apartment and it's all thanks to David and UNFCU. Not only did he get me lowest rate on an ARM anyone had ever heard of at that time, he held my hand every step of the way, answered all my questions and calls, and soothed all my anxieties about being a disorganized client. When I closed, all the lawyers oohed and aahed at my rate, I kid you not. On top of all that, David has a great sense of humor and phone rapport and is a joy to shoot the s*** with. UNFCU is the best kept secret in the NYC mortgage game!

We were first time home-buyers in NYC and did not realize how intimidating the process could be. David Wald and Karen Toro took the time to help us navigate all the financial information associated with our purchase and ensured we understood everything at every step of the way. Even while on vacation, David would answer our calls and questions. The customer experience was top-notch! Our loan was processed fast and efficient. Incredible professional, always available for a quick call on questions, and even worked with me to get the best mortgage rates for my first time homebuying experience. Prices and fees were the lowest compared to other credit unions and large banks I compared against. Would highly recommend.

UNFCU was a dream to work with throughout our home-buying process, from initially talking to our mortgage broker, to our rate that we were able to lock in, through to closing with the bank attorney. Everyone at the closing were amazed by the efficiency and speed of the bank and dedication to its clients. Even our broker wanted to become a member! When I think of my experience with my UNFCU mortgage team I have to pinch myself because it was perfect and dreamlike. Each member of my team, from Tina, Rosie, Bob, Zamena and Morgan, they handled me and my business with such care and respect, I felt very catered to, as if I was their only client - they centered me in everything and assured me of their partnership and support to make good decisions that are for my interest and good - i could not ask for more or better. Each of them, super responsive, thorough and so incredibly knowledgeable about their area of expertise and the field. Coupled with their willingness to go that extra mile to make me feel confident with each step/decision that I made. Even my lawyer was impressed with them and said that they are the easiest and smoothest company and team he's ever worked with - he's been in the business for 20+ years. This was my first time refinancing w UNFCU - it was very thorough, yet QUICK! Tina Dixon Smith was my Contact (for many years) and I love her. She explains everything in detail and helped me through this complicated process! They were quick to respond to any questions I had and were very professional!!! Once you pull all necessary documents - you send in a secure format where all is very confidential. I was extremely happy with how easy Tina and her team made this for me - all down to the Closing. I would Highly recommend Tina and her team for ALL refinancing needs!

Worst bank on planet earth. I've been a member for 5 years and I am at the end of my rope. If I start airing grievances I'll be here all day, but I'll just say that every process and feature offered is useless at best and suicidal at worst. It took months but I finally got my replacement debit card in the mail, except I can't activate it because the website and phone line are both down for maintenance. Why would an automated phone line need maintenance? On a Saturday too. There is no app but if there was it wouldn't work. The reason I had to order a new debit card was because for the last 6 months, my debit card constantly threw up fraud alerts. According to UNFCU, it kept thinking I was in Africa, which they couldn't explain or fix. I kept using it anyway because it is a pandemic and it is what it is; since coronavirus they shut down the only branch not inside or across the street from the UN HQ, so if you don't work there anymore, you have 0 branches in NYC. Finally, the chip totally stopped working and I gave up and ordered a new one, which never arrived. They canceled that and mistakenly also cancelled my old one, so for the last two weeks I have had no debit card at all. This is just the most recent garbage. Stay away.

Over the course of 15 years, beginning as a green card holder and then a US Citizen, I bought first a studio (around 500 sq ft), 2 years later a 1 bedroom apartment (about 800 sq ft), both in NYC, and 11 years later a large (5,800 sq ft) house in NC. This would not have been possible without a great lender. This would not have been possible without Bill Dunn. I had little to begin with but Bill trusted me and helped me time and again so I was able to go though all these purchases without fear. I used to work at the UN and live in NYC and I feel so blessed that Bill Dunn still helped me through the purchase of a house in NC when I retired. At UNFCU you are not a number, you are a person, and that was what Bill made me feel. Once I thought all was settled and I would not need UNFCU anymore, the rates dropped and instead of dealing with a local NC bank, I opted again to contact first my NYC lender for a refinancing. I could not be happier: I got the lowest mortgage rate and the best service I could ever imagine. This was all thanks to Bill Dunn, who even worked over the week-end. As a Real Estate Broker in NC I could have chosen a local lender, but I can testify that Bill Dunn at UNFCU is the best mortgage professional one could deal with. I opened an account against my better judgement. Spouse wanted to have an account we could easily transfer money. Which was rather smooth. I should of been tipped off when o saw how outdated the mobile app was. Wasn't setup for Face ID. The Touch ID wasn't very reliable as well. The app overall looked dated. The problem I ran into was when I deposited checks. I was told checks should clear on one day and it wouldn't clear for another 3-4 days after that day. The frustrating part was i should of been told It would take all of 7 days. Which each time it did. I know checks can clear immediately or sometime in between to 7 days. Just let me know when. I shouldn't be surprised when I call up to see why it has cleared after it would be cleared on a particular day. I would go elsewhere unless this is your only option.
