My favorite place to buy my groceries. Been shopping there for over 20 years. This is a seasonal fruit and vegetable market in the old world style. The prices and quality of the produce are excellent for in-season fruit. We can't expect to get the same quality of the same produce when it is out of season for anyone who posted a poor review. Since my children were little the great displayed produce helped them find new and interesting fruit and veggies to eat. Many times they see a new seasonal item and tried it. Cross Island is a great family run business by owner Joe who is always watching over the quality. The staff on the aisles recognizes customers and is always helpful. The butcher and seafood are top notch and beat any poor factory style meat from the big corporate chains. Shop local and support your community by sharing this great gem in Lynbrook. They have helped me raise a healthy family for years.

Hands down one of my favorite local places in the area. The butcher shop is excellent, prices are always great and quality is even better. Great prices on the supermarket side as well especially the fruits and bakery. Been coming for over 10 years

Cross Island offers high quality food, with an emphasis on Italian food products, at reasonable prices. The specialty stores within the main store make for a unique and richer variety of offerings.

I just opened my package of freshly sliced American cheese to find a little black hair on it. Absolutely disgusted, will never shop here again.

Produce is very hit or miss. Fruit has been awful lately. Owner is a total jerk and completely rude to his patrons.

Great place for fresh fruit and meats. We have been buying our real Christmas trees there for decades, always beautiful and a good price. We come from several towns away to shop here because of the consistent quality we receive.

Bought fresh flowers. Employee under training took time to register the sale. The staff giving training to new employee wrapped the flowers with used large plastic paper. The new employee will copy the trainer I believe.

This place is going down hill. The fruits mostly was over ripe and old. Plenty of it. But who would buy it.

I live and work locally in Lynbrook and this is my go to store for every day food items. I eat mostly fresh produce and the selection is really good and the prices are too!

They have a variety of groceries, meats, fish, fruits and vegetables. There is also a bakery. I went to get corn muffins but they are only sold single.. they didn't have the mini ones.. but the bakery had a variety of deserts and cakes..

I go to this store weekly with my *disabled uncle* and have noticed the young girls working as cashiers have a very condescending energy. This is definitely not all of them but I"ll be blunt-- the young white girls carry themselves with a sense of entitlement. They have felt comfortable speaking to my uncle like he is less than smart and can't do simple things. Instead of just guiding him if he doesn't know where to place the card for "Tap to Pay" or helping pack the bags, he will be stared at as if these girls are 9 and have never seen a disabled person before. These girls make the overall experience of shopping here less than satisfying because the most "fresh" thing on my mind when leaving is the experience with the cashiers. I never have these condescending encounters with the *one black cashier* or the POC helping us check out which makes the girls I'm referring to stick out like a very, very sore thumb.I'm very particular when I go with him about which cashiers we choose based on their overall cadence. I wish I could say this only happened once but I'd be lying. I'm honestly sick of the gum-chewing, neck-rolling prima donnas. They need some sort of training for them on how to treat people who may seem 'different' as human beings. It's disgusting. Or they should have some sort of repercussions when the customers' experience has been unpleasant. This makes me question the managers and how they're choosing who works here. This has simply been my experience shopping here. For me, choosing a place to shop doesn't just have to do with their products, it has to do with the character of the employees. My hope is that if these girls ever have a disabled child of their own that this world doesn't treat them the way they've chosen to treat or look at my uncle.(On a lighter note, there is one cashier who works at one of the registers furthest from the front door, she has a loud voice that makes her stand out and always greets us with a smile. I've loved every encounter we've had with her. She's so helpful and has very humble energy about her. When I do return to Cross Island, I'll always look for her! I wish she was there every time we go shopping.)

Good fruit and produce. The name does not lie. They focus on the fruit. Go here for the produce and the specialty stores within the store. Not necessarily the best if you want to do normal grocery shopping. Also they hire a lot of young kids to work here and don't be afraid to interrupt their conversations if you need to check out. They're just social but not unwilling to help you out. Ambiance might be described as old school. I almost feel like the floors should still be covered with sawdust. Also they have a bunch of weird stuff like everything you need to make your own wine. Look up for that.
