The Dwight D. Eisenhower Visitor Center at the Seaway System offers an engaging experience for visitors interested in the history and technology of the lock system. Each floor has outdoor observation decks with great views of the lock and passing vessels, including cargo ships and cruise ships. Visitors can watch ships squeeze into the lock, get lowered, and leave for sea, providing a fascinating live demonstration of how the system works. The center also offers information boards with ship schedules and cargo details. For those who prefer scenic views, there is a viewing area past the canal that provides good vantage points. The center is free to enter and provides a very interesting and worthwhile experience that can easily fill a couple of hours.

Very cool Lock. You can drive under it, go to museum, lots to do for kids while you're waiting for a ship. You can easily spend 2 hours here. Family fun.
