This TJ Maxx is the worst one I’ve ever been to. I hear such good things about the store in general but this one is a disaster and has a small selection of clothes for ages 18-25. Waste of my time tonight.

Well, it depends on where you are TJ Maxx on interchange Road in Erie Pennsylvania used to have the best manager in the world now I’m not so sure about the people. They’re not very friendly and the store racks are so packed. It’s very difficult to find anything.

The prices seem pretty reasonable. I picked up disposable bags for my dogs.

I’m giving it a one star because I went there and purchased some things however, when I went to pay the lady said would you like to sign up for a card and whenever you come back you can scan it and get discount and what not, she said it was free. I said sure, I come here all the time why not. I genuinely thought it was a scan card like cvs, ShopRite etc however it was a credit card 😢 when I got the notification of a hard credit pull I was speechless because had she said credit card I wouldn’t have signed up and now I’m stuck with a credit card

I am writing this review to save you from the horrific customer service and outright theft I experienced at both the TJ Maxx in Riverhead, NY and the one in Coram, NY. These stores are an absolute disgrace.
My nightmare started in Riverhead. The employees there are unbelievably rude. They act like you are a personal inconvenience for daring to shop. I asked a simple question and was met with an eye-roll and a sarcastic tone. They have ABSOLUTELY NO REGARD FOR THEIR JOB, preferring to gossip loudly using foul language that no paying customer should have to hear.
But the real problem happened in Coram. I bought a shirt and a pair of pants, only to get home and find disgusting, set-in stains on them. Clearly, this damaged merchandise never should have been on the floor. When I returned with my receipt, expecting a simple apology and refund, I was treated like a criminal. The cashier (who didn't even make eye contact) called over a manager who flat-out refused the return. They accused me of causing the stains myself, speaking to me with such condescension and disrespect. They have NO CUSTOMER SERVICE and ABSOLUTELY NO REGARD for customer satisfaction or basic fairness.
Let's be clear: these stores sell defective, stained goods and then refuse to take responsibility. Their return policy is a scam designed to protect them from their own poor quality control. The staff at both locations are hostile, unprofessional, and seem to enjoy denying help to customers.
Save yourself the anger and wasted money. Do not shop at these locations. They will sell you damaged goods and then insult you when you try to get a refund. They are the worst retail experiences in New York. I will be taking my business to Marshalls or anywhere that values its customers. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Dear TJ Maxx Management,
I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding a very unpleasant experience I had at your Medford, NY location on Horse Block Road, on June 20, 2025, around 10:00 AM.
I came in to make two returns using two separate receipts, both of which I had on my phone. The process started off smoothly until the associate asked me to provide the card I originally used to make the purchases. She stated that one of the transactions had been made with a Visa debit card ending in 5994. I explained that I do not recall having a Visa card ending in those numbers, and that I primarily use a MasterCard credit card ending in with those similar numbers which is why I was so confused.
Rather than helping me calmly or explaining possible scenarios, the associate became visibly agitated and rude, speaking loudly and with exaggerated hand gestures. I was with my 5-month-old son, already managing a lot, and her attitude made the situation even more stressful and frustrating.
When processing the second return, she again insisted that the original card used was a Visa debit card ending in 5994. I showed her my cards saved in Apple Pay, which include a Visa debit card ending in 6048, and told her that maybe the issue was with my Apple Card, since it was the only other card I had. Despite my efforts, she continued to act impatient and dismissive.
Eventually, the return did go through( which if it was so important that I go back on the original payment method I don’t think their system would’ve accepted the wrong cardI put through) —but her demeanor remained rude and unprofessional. When I politely told her, “You don’t have to be rude,” and offered to redo the return to help figure it out, she refused.
It wasn’t until I got to my car and double-checked my Apple Pay that I realized something Apple does not make very clear—that your physical card number is different from the virtual card number used by Apple Pay. Had this been explained to me clearly and respectfully during the return process, it would have prevented a lot of confusion and embarrassment.
I left feeling disrespected, embarrassed, and extremely frustrated, especially in a store full of customers. I understand that retail work can be difficult, but basic kindness, patience, and professionalism should always be part of the customer experience.
I hope this matter will be taken seriously and addressed accordingly. I would appreciate a follow-up to let me know how this concern is being handled.

This T.J. maxx was about what you would expect. There were items in misplaced areas. There were shoes that were not in the correct areas. I found a size 11 and a size 10 in with 9/8.5
There were kids toys on the floor.
I understand that it is the customers that make it a mess. The store is looking for more help.
The look of the store reflects the lack of help.
The cashier was WONDERFUL!! He greeted me with a smile and laughter. He was NOT on his phone, which is so rare these days. I would give HIM 5 stars.

This store is a mess. They have boats loaded with merchandise scattered all over, making it difficult to shop. It’s like this every time I visit. The store is already small, and the overcrowded layout makes the experience even worse. It’s so congested that I don’t even want to shop here.
