I have been taking my cats here for years. I had one cat, who I put down there 5 years ago, who was going there since she was about 10 months old & was about 15 when I put her down. Another cat who was around the same age who was going there since a kitten & as well put down there. I currently have a 6 year old, a 5 year old who also have been there. & now my 3 year old cat who was taken to a different vet before I had brought her home.I called them about a week ago and asked to get my 3 year old spayed. They had asked me if I would like to get her vaccinated while she is there for her appointment - OVER THE PHONE I said NO I would only like the spay at this time. They told me that wouldn't be a problem. They didn't have any appointments with the doctor I was seeing over 20 years, so I said it was ok to give me an appointment with another doctor that I wanted to get this done ASAP.Today I walk in there, filled out all the paperwork, I declined the vaccines once again, including rabies- yes, they told me it's NY law to get it done, but my cat DOES NOT go outside to even contract rabies. We waited in the room to see dr Anthony Nanton, he asked about rabies vaccine, I said I would not like to proceed with getting the rabies vaccine at the moment, I just want to get her spayed. He left the room to go ask the front desk for a form stating that I am declining the rabies vaccine. The nurse came in and told me "since it's your cat, it's your choice to vaccinate or not, we are just getting a form to show that you declined the vaccine and we can go forward with the spaying", I said great, awesome thank you! Of course my cat is out of her element, so she was scared and hissing and trying to get away, like any animal would. THIS 300LB MAN WAS AFRAID OF A LITTLE 8LB CAT WHO HE WAS NOT EVEN HANDLING. Turned around and told me "that's it, I'm putting my foot down, I'm not doing the procedure unless she's vaccinated." The audacity of him to even say that, after everyone agreed that it was MY CHOICE. F^*&ing ridiculous! That's who calls himself a veterinarian?I will never be giving my business to these people ever again, after coming for almost 20 years. I have never had an issue with getting my cats any vaccines if declined, but of course i never dealt with an incompetent sorry excuse of a doctor. Had the girls on the phone - who by the way were very nice, this is NOT about them or the nurse, very nice people - but if they told me over the phone that the doctor will NOT do the procedure without the vaccine, I would have not made the appointment and put my cat through that kind of stress.RIDICULOUS. Anthony Nanton, you should just quit your job because you're useless and a POS.

I came here with my cat because this office was recommended to me. I wanted to give them one more try but last visit was the last straw. Aside fromThe fact that they make you hold on the phone always somewhere 10-15 minutes, they will rip you off $$ wherever they can and sedate your cat just because they can't do their job right. I had brought my cat in because he had stopped eating food that I had just bought, ( the one I usually get was sold out) And a second time it happens, that the vet tells me "he is a very complicated customer, I have to sedate him". I spoke to two other different Vets, at different offices who were shocked that this is the first approach Dr. Tuzio wanted to go after - because that's how they make most money.Mind you my cat is the friendliest cat you would meet, no I don't say this just because he's my cat but he was surrounded by people since he is 2 months old and he is an adequate cat and everyone, has no issue with him. DO NOT GO HERE! They don't care for your cat, neither for you - all they want to do is run tests so they can milk you. Nothing ended up being wrong with my cat, he just was being a brat and didn't want to continue eating this food , which another doctor had confirmed. While my cat was in a complete distress after visiting their office ( I have never seen my cat crying so much) I was never treated this disrespectful as a customer anywhere Whenever I had any questions the doctor always speaks to me in a belittling manner , again- I'm not a VET, this is why I came to you, why I pay YOU, for your job and that you can explain me, whenever I have questions. If you want to reach them- it's impossible, be prepared to wait on the phone from 5-15 minutes . She never made it her business to call me back, you would assume she would try to call next morning, knowing that I have expressed my disappointment and anger with this office and how my cat was treated. I had to call the office the next day, six times !!! And only spoke to her, after I called MYSELF, again at 5pm.Do not recommend. !!!!!! If I could give negative stars, I would .

Ruining Dr. Luger's legacy of being a practice that cares for the well being of the animal first. Client with five cats, all around 10 years old, for 10 years. I have spent $34K at this facility. I have a Sphynx who has seven heart defects and was never supposed to make it past 2 years old. Miraculously she is 9 1/2 years old. Dr. Luger recommended Dr Kramer, cardiologist, from the time Lucy was 14 weeks old and she goes every year and reports are mailed back to FHCH. Lucy had vestibular syndrome or an ear infection and saw Dr Luger on Dec 24th and Dec 26th 2019. She then saw Dr Kramer on Jan 2, 2020 to ensure she wasn't throwing clots and in July 2020 for her regular ekg, echo and complete physical. Both reports from Dr Kramer were sent to FHCH as usual. Jan 15 ,2021 I called FHCH for Lucy's quarterly meds. I was told by Dr Tuzio that it's been over a year since Lucy was in the facility so meds could not be given unless I brought her in. It was 3 weeks past a year plus she had gone to Dr Kramer twice and Dr Luger always counted the specialist visit. Dr Tuzio told me Dr Kramer's report is only about the heart. What? Did you read the report? He not only examines her heart but does a mini neurological and complete exam, eyes, ears, teeth, anal glands. Frankly no vet at FHCH comes close to the physical given by Dr Kramer. Besides I was calling for her heart meds. I'd like to also add it was freezing, she is bald, it was in the heart of the pandemic where the CDC guidelines for veterinarians say limit to necessary visits. dvm360.com/.../cdc-relea…...I just wanted her quarterly meds and I was bringing her in for a checkup come spring when it got warmer. Mind you Dr. Tuzio is a marvelous vet but her judgement call on this one was out the window and obviously she cares nothing for my animal's well being and not interested in retaining a client with five cats that had gone to Dr Luger for the last ten years. A little nuts. A shout out to Tiffany at the front desk who is marvelous, along with Sarielle and Amalya. Liz the head vet tech is incredible as are the techs Kelly, Teresa and Audrey. A really bad decision on Dr Tuzio's part

FHCH has changed a lot since Dr. Luger sold it two years ago. The terrific Dr. Nebel left, wonderful Dr. Tuzio has an impossible workload, Dr. Allan lacks experience, and now it's just a business. The comp Wed. phone follow-up and consult hours have disappeared, the place is understaffed, existing staff are impatient and harried, and cat patients react to all the stress. I have started to look for a new vet.

I have been going here since back when they were on Cooper Ave., 2 cats ago. They have always been reliable, kind and compassionate. We board our cat there when we are vacationing as well. I currently have the sweetest cat who turns into Mr. Hyde when she is at the vet and they are lovely with her, telling her what a good, pretty girl she is, even when she's hissing and growling! Lol. Sometimes the wait is a little long, altho during the pandemic that's not an issue--They just pick her up curbside.

I will never trust this place with one of my cats again. After moving to a new apartment, my cat seemed to be quite constipated and was not eating too well. I also pointed out that his legs seemed to be a bit weak. I brought him here after seeing all the positive reviews and what a mistake. Dr. Allen agreed it looked like simple stress induced constipation, gave him an enema and pointed out that his weakness looks more like arthritis. She sent me home with some pain medication to help him manage it. The dosage on the bottle was way too much and the first time I gave him the medication, he became incredibly uncoordinated and couldn't even take 2 steps without falling over. I did a google search of the medication and found that typically it's better to slowly introduce the medication to your cat so that side effect isn't so bad. She also pointed out that he had a heart murmur. Since he was an older guy, we set up an echo a week later. Upon dropping him off and returning to my apartment, she calls telling me that she believes he is in heart failure. However, without the echo tech being there yet, there's no way to know for sure. After crying for a few hours at home, she calls me with an update and tells me HE HAS NO HEART PROBLEMS. Then she tries to get me to schedule another $500 ultrasound for his liver (but prior to this she says he is unlikely to have any liver problems). The appetite stimulant she gave me and miralax seemed to stop working. The arthritis medication didn't seem to have any actual effect on his walking and I pointed out again that his legs seemed weak, not in pain. I brought him in for another enema and she insisted that she saw signs of arthritis in an x-ray she took. Even though the regimen he was on was not working, she had no other advice than to continue on it and adjust the amounts. Again, this enema didn't seem to work and I no longer trusted her medical opinion. I took him to another vet in New Hyde Park and she told me that he was in really poor condition. That vet felt a lump in his abdomen that she suspected was a tumor but she was unable to treat him at her clinic given his extremely poor condition. He had been dehydrated and anemic. She suggested I bring her to an ER and it turned out that he had a massive cancerous tumor (7 cm) in his intestines. He had surgery to remove the tumor but unfortunately he was unable to make it through recovery as the cancer had spread to all his vital organs and they were no longer functioning. The ER also told me there was nothing to suggest arthritis in their x-rays. My question is how did Dr. Allen see him on 3 separate occasions, misdiagnose him with arthritis when it was weakness (that I pointed out AND was a critical symptom of the cancer) not feel this huge tumor, and never bother to suggest I take him to an ER to seek emergency treatment?? She continued to let me believe that he would be okay under her care for weeks when I should have taken him into a more comprehensive medical center for care. Perhaps if I brought him to an ER sooner he would have had a better chance at recovering from the surgery. In addition, the receptionist (I believe her name is Teresa) is completely inept. You'll have to call back several times to get an update from her and scheduling with her is a nightmare. She can never answer any questions and says she'll ask a doctor (who is also nearly impossible to reach). To top it off it seems like she doesn't even like cats. On my numerous trips there, I watched her yell at and slam doors on distressed cats that are meowing. Why are you working at a cat hospital if you hate cats so much??? Absolutely avoid this place at all costs. I wouldn't even bring a cat here for a checkup.

I brought my sweet angel here after her regular vet couldn't find out what was going on when her. I felt much more confident and secure bringing her to a specialist. Dr. Allen was incredibly communicative during every visit; she shared all possible causes + solutions and was just great with putting our minds at ease. You can tell that the care & well being of our pets is their top priority. While we still don't have a full understanding of what's going on with Pickles; we've at least been able to manage her discomfort for the past month- a huge improvement compared to the nightmare we were dealing with prior to being her to FHCH. We will continue to trust the team here with the care of our two furry friends!

Experienced vets that were very supportive and reassuring when we brought our kitten to them after getting confusing responses from multiple other vets for his symptoms. Our local vet had wanted to do a costly biopsy and referral to specialists, but FHCH astutely recommended conservative management, which has worked well. We took our kitten for a follow up within a week of the initial check up just to be safe and also received a discount off regular rates. We live in Manhattan but have no qualms about making FHCH our go-to vet given the superior standard and reasonable cost of care provided.

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE!! They saw my cat THREE TIMES and kept selling us medications for an ear infection that would not go away. Finally we took him somewhere else (after charging us almost 800 in total for all the visits and meds) and they found that he has a polyp. How can you specialize in cats but not catch something so common!!!

I'm so happy I found this vet. Dr. Tuzio is the most caring vet I've ever had look after any of my cats. I got two 2 month old kittens back in June and she's been walking me through every step of care. The check ups are detailed and she's very informative, she taught me how to use the treats to my advantage for my babies and I actually was able to teach them some tricks! She really takes care of these kitties like they are her own. Even the price of services aren't that bad, much cheaper than Manhattan and even my own neighborhood, well worth the drive for me, I can't recommend this place enough!

I took my cat there today for her annual check up and shots, and they were just wonderful. My cat was a first time patient, and I was nervous about having to drop her off and not be able to go in with her because of Covid-19, but the staff and Dr. Tuzio could not have been more professional and understanding. While I was waiting, I struck up a conversation with another woman who was waiting for them to bring her cat out, too. She said she's been brining her cats to FHCH for 30 years, and she wouldn't go anywhere else. Thank you all so much for giving me a new place to get top notch care for my cat!

My cat got badly sick for the first time, vomitting for a day and a half my family had no idea what had caused it, my cat wasn't being active as normal didnt want to eat or drink he looked terrible so I knew it was time to take him to the vet.. during this pandemic alot of clinics wouldn't accept first time clients but forest hills cat hospital took me in even when they were extremely busy! Their phones were going off all day but it didn't stop them from updating me and telling me what was going on with my cat while he stood hospitalized for a day and a half on iv fluids and they did blood work.. when my cat arrived home he was still acting alittle strange but it was the pills side effects but he really did get better as the days went by all thanks to this hospital.. as a first time client and a first time pet owner the staff and the doctor were insanely kind and generous to inform me on diet, behavior, lifestyle and useful tips and tricks I highly recommend this hospital they can run tests and they have everything you need to get your kitty better!

Dr. Tuzzio is genuinely the best vet that I have ever seen. She was involved every step of the way with my palliative care plan for my cat back in 2017. I couldn’t thank her enough for her support and recommendations during that incredibly difficult time and I genuinely believe that my cat had the most comfortable last few months because of her. I’m awful at leaving reviews in a timely manner, but if you’re in Queens, there isn’t a better, more dedicated vet out there!
