Central Vet is one of the most knowledgeable practices on Long Island. I recently had my dog Dexter had to have major surgery done on his right leg due to Hip Dysplasia. We were concerned since he was a senior dog of 11 years old. Fast forward 4 weeks later and Dex is doing remarkable well. I may also add two years his Sister had her ACL done at Central vet and turned out w a 100% recovery. If your dog needs surgery Dr. Azagrar is the man.

I took my senior dog of 10 years old there as an emergency on a Sunday night because one of her eyes was red and swollen and she was bleeding from her nose. Upon my arrival, I realized no one besides the receptionist was present (she was very nice), until about 30/45 minutes Joseph Azagrar arrived. All he was worried about was whether I was going to chose to get x-rays by him or my dogs regular veterinarian. He had no care in the world that she was presently bleeding and "didn't think it was a medical emergency". DO NOT take your loved pets there for a medical emergency. I could have saved myself the $285 and took my babygirl to her regular veterinarian the following morning. He was the worst experience I've encountered as for someone who specializes in the care for our loved pets meanwhile blood was present. I do NOT recommend their care. MY FIRST AND LAST EXPERIENCE THERE!!!

Would give zero if I could. Never answers phone. Hours online are not accurate. Hours are very minimal and not normal 9-5. ONLINE HOURS ARE NOT ACCURATE. Phone rings and rings and rings- recording says to hold because they are Talking to other patients BUT THEY ARE CLOSED. lots of time wasted trying to get in touch for simple appointment. Today I called back again and I am told they tried calling every day this week. Honestly I did end up seeing a missed call from yesterday on my husbands phone. But my phone which is the main account never had a missed call. Overall extremely frustrating to work with. Affiliated office in valley stream tried to help (until they lost it and got frustrated themselves), but if your close to mineola office- who wants to travel all the way to valley stream? ***adding in response to them below. THATS A LIE- The phone DOES not forward to any other office, it keeps the person on hold playing music and i just wait not knowing they are actually not there. …..yes I said above I saw ONE missed call on my husbands phone and nothing on mine and I always have phone on me. ONE phone call after countless tryings is hardly enough. This all shouldn’t be this frustrating. I recommend trying another vet without these minimal hours and not great service.

I have to let everyone know this is the place for all your animals! Hospitality was excellent. They care about the animal not the money. Compared to the other vets I've used I am so happy with them. They Care!

Everyone that works there are very nice and professional. Always available to answer your questions, they don't rush you out of the exam room. The text reminders for shots and appointments are very helpful

On Sunday, November 15, I went to central vets Mineola with my dog, James and my husband. We are newly dog parents and know very little about dogs. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful towards us. We had a million and half questions and they kindly answered all our questions. They even gave us many options for our dog, which was very appreciated.I would highly recommend making an appointment with the Mineola office. I am so grateful for all they have done for James so far and I am looking forward to more vet visits.

If you are a first time pet owner avoid this place. They will sell you a bunch of things you don’t need and also try and convince you to leave your dog overnight for “observation”. I only went here because it was a free vet visit as per the agreement with where I got my puppy from. They were supposed to do addtl services and shots but since I didn’t follow the Dr orders they refused. Also the receptionist was very rude as well.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I have had a dog before and are familiar the games some veterinary places try to play however for my wife it is her first time having a puppy. I took my pup here for his initial visit and it was a terrible experience from start to finish with the attitude of the receptionist to the aggressiveness of the Vet to purchase their products and place my dog overnight at the hospital. Anyone that has adopted a dog before knows it takes a few days for the dog to get acquainted to a new environment. I refused to listen to the "vets recommendation" and they denied me the free services they were supposed to provide part of their agreement with the store. If you are a new dog owner they will try to take advantage of you and sell overpriced items and try to scare you into placing your pet for observation overnight.

First of all, this phone number is for "Central Veterinary Associates" located at 73 W Merrick Rd in Valley Stream. I called this place because it is close to home but after I made my appointment, they told me their real address. So here is the review I put on their other Google review:

I brought in my dog today for an examination because he had vomited multiple times and I wanted his temp taken. He was acting his normal self which is why I really just wanted someone else to physically look at him. I explained this to the staff and vet, yet after five minutes she still tried to rush me into agreeing to give him an antiemetic injection and purchase take home tablets. He had a normal temp and examination AND was acting his normal self. When I said I needed a few minutes to call my boyfriend who co-owns our pup and think, the vet stormed out saying she had to see other patients. I even asked if I could watch him for a few hours and then come back for the recommended medication if he got sick again, yet that wasn't an option to them. I love my dog more than anything- if I was told my dog truly needed the antiemetic to get better, I would have gotten it at any cost. However, antiemetics are drugs that treat side effects not fight illnesses! The vet agreed he didn't appear to have any side effects and was acting his normal self! All this place wants is your money and if you are hesitant to buy something they recommend, they will say you "declined treatment." I am not joking they wrote how I said"I need to know what all of this is going to cost me!" in the doctor's notes for my dog's visit. Obviously I needed to ask that question. Who wouldn't ask that question? Why would I pay money to buy something my dog doesn't need? Don't bring your dog here!
