Great service, great car loan rates. I was approved for a car loan, but the deal fell through. Sunmark was open late on a Friday night and was able to switch the loan and the car insurance to a different car after 5:00 on a Friday. I picked up the check the next day. Wow!

I have been doing online and in-person banking with Sunmark for the past few years and my experiences have always been excellent. The staff at the Delmar NY branch are awesome.
Sean Overbaugh has been instrumental in succesfully helping my family and I with getting loans and managing other banking needs. Tim Ronk has also been helpful in so many ways. Both are very professional and accommodating. Stop by the branch and speak with either of these guys for your banking needs, you won't be disappointed.

I was with this bank for years, even before it was Sunmark, but ever since they took over banking has been made significantly difficult.
From reporting my card as stolen on my behalf, with little to no notice and deactivating it.
To barely having any functioning transfer functions that don’t involve sending a check.
For the past 3 years I’ve been let down by this bank and it feels like every time they’ve taken a step forward to improve their services, they take a step back.
To my previous point about my card, I am still awaiting my “new card” that they supposedly ordered for me, and despite them saying it takes 1-2 business days, it’s been a week. And I can’t pay my bills. When I called they told me there was nothing I could do.

I normally prefer not to write a bad review but this archaic bank shouldn't be anyone's first choice if convenience is important. I've had numerous issues that even affected my credit because of their 'systems' to the point where the new app has NEVER worked to the point I have to call in and make a payment like it's 1950. The hold time on 2 separate lines exceeded 20 mins and reps are only available during normal business hours, while I'm also at work. The automated TAMMY system is also glitching because when you press the numbers on the keep pad, it doesn't resonate and the line hangs up on your for unresponsiveness. I've tried 5x between breaks and the payment is due soon! Yet again, the app is down for 'maintenance'! The 'forgot username/ password' prompt on the site & app never send me an email but I'll get spam from them. Get with an accredited bank, this is the last I'll use a credit union. Their special rates aren't even special anymore. They were 1.99% for a few years straight but now 5%+ like most dealers. Not worth the hassle anymore.
UPDATE: I read the other reviews and I'm shocked that so many others have the same experience. I thought they just dropped the ball with me but now I'm lowering to one star, because you knew!

Jake Kasanofsky is the primary reason we remain with Sunmark Credit Union. He is the first person we met there and has served as our go-to person ever since. No matter what we ask or how confused we may be, he has always helped us efficiently, intelligently, and patiently – and always with a smile upon his face. He radiates warmth and amicability, offers solutions for every problem, responds within hours of a query, and seems genuinely interested in his customers. If he does not know an answer to a query or needs to process something through another department, he is quick to do so instead of pretending he can do it on his own. He has helped us manage our savings, HELOC, and mortgage, and we feel as if no matter how small or large our business was, Jake would treat us the same way because he simply likes his job, knows his job really well, and enjoys helping people attain their financial goals. We thank you, Jake, and we thank you, Sunmark, for having such a wonderful employee on your staff!

The most dishonest credit union I've ever "been a member" of. And I've used several over the years due to relocating, always wanting a local branch. No surprise to see several other reviews stating "Ever since Sunmark took over the service has been terrible."It is clearly not a member service oriented credit union. Member service means nothing to them. Absolutely evident it was a buyout or moreso a take-over by a self-serving corporation.One example. I had PLENTY money available in my checking account. Confirmed this through online banking before using debit card for purchases. For nearly a week straight every time I made a purchase with my debit card it said funds were not available, unnecessarily generated an automatic transfer from savings and imposing a separate fee every time it did so.I arrived in person and spoke with a member services representative. Who confirmed the money was in fact available and I should have never been charged fees. Any other credit union the service rep' would have the authority to reverse the fees on the spot and credit my account back. Not at Sunmark. It's been weeks now and they've still kept the money they "stole" from me, and couldn't even be troubled to call me and follow up.This is the third of three instances where they've exhibited a complete unwillingness to try to help their members. Third strike and I'm out. I won't close the account. I'll keep the required minimum deposited so it costs them more money to maintain my account than they'll earn in interest on my money.Credit where due? Shout out to Jake. The only one of the three member service rep's that I've dealt with that genuinely WANTED to help with a previous situation. Unfortunately Jake's hands were tied by either his boss or by their corporate policy. At least 33% had a desire to be helpful, had he been allowed to.Generally speaking, banks vs. credit unions...Credit unions other than Sunmark are typically superior to banks in every way. You have to be a member of a credit union. You keep a very reasonable minimum amount in the account and with that are in essence considered a shareholder of sorts. You are valued, treated with respect, and member service is a top priority. Example, MOST provide up to three automatic transfers per month from savings to checking as a courtesy to their members to avoid them the cost of an overdraft fee. And that's when the money legitimately wasn't in your checking account. But they already have YOUR money in Savings.Clearly Sunmark makes no distinction between MY money and Sunmark's money.They'll take my money as their own, and not bother refunding it when you bring it to their attention, even when they themselves agree you were wrongfully charged.Find yourself a reputable credit union. Stay far away from Sunmark!Lastly, consider the source. See my other reviews. I've written almost none. I'm not the type to trash poor service. There's too much of that in this world and it's not a healthy approach to life. Don't spend your lives "against" everything that you encounter. You'll find yourself emotionally unwell in a hurry.I've written only a few reviews over the years and they were PROBABLY all positive.But, you should go to a bank to earn interest and to PROTECT your money. Go to a credit union to earn higher interest and get better rates on loans, etc. than banks offer.SUNMARK on the other hand? Go there if you want to have your hard-earned money TAKEN from you by yet another soulless corporation.

Smart tellers. Very friendly. I love credit unions. And this one is awesome. Smart tellers able to figure out ways to give the customer what they want. Partner credit union friendly.
