Terrible Experience After 5 Years of Loyalty
I’ve been a KeyBank customer for almost 5 years, doing everything electronically without ever stepping foot in a branch. Unfortunately, the first time I had an issue, I had no choice but to visit a branch in person. My experience at the Monsey, NY branch was nothing short of a nightmare.
Every time I called the branch, I received different answers from different employees. The direct KeyBank customer service was even worse—unhelpful and frustrating. My funds were held up for a month, and all my requests for resolving the issue were either ignored or ridiculed. When I mentioned a specific resolution that someone from the branch had suggested, I was mocked and told that I made it up.
When I finally went into the Monsey branch, the branch manager pretended to be knowledgeable but ended up on hold with KeyBank for over 45 minutes, only to have them change their stance yet again. My issue was never resolved, and the entire interaction was unprofessional and a waste of time.
I’m closing all my accounts with KeyBank and strongly advise others to do the same. After this experience, it’s clear that they don’t value their customers.

All in all I googled the closest key bank to me and gps brought me to this location. When I went in one personal banker that sat to closest to the door was very pleasant and helpful. I was informed that I may have had to have an appointment for what I was looking to do. The personal banker that sat further from the door offered to speak to a manager to see if I could be attended to. Unknowingly the first personal banker went to check on the same thing for me 5-7 minutes later. The first banker never came back to update me anything.The branch manager allowed me to come to his office where I presented all of my legal and legit documents. Articles of incorporationNew Jersey state ID 3 business credit cards and debit cards and my social security card. The branch manager studied each item as if what was in question was the authenticity of each document down to flipping my social security card over back and fourth.I was met with a string of questions like what makes me want to bank with key bank opposed to a bank closer to me and what specific products I want. After we spoke he then proceeded to say he can’t open my account today but to come back tomorrow because he thought I only wanted to see him to ask him about products which he never gave me any info on anyway.Alot of this seems normal but it would only be normal if this was an automated system. The energy I received was more than the normal vet a customer. I didn’t go to the bank in a suit and tie but I wasn’t dressed inappropriately. I truly feel because I was an African American male opening a business account I was profiled. To have to present 4-5 forms of ID and to continue to be questioned what else do you have is not normal.I don’t think the company in all is like this but I do feel I picked the wrong location and it’s sad because it shouldn’t be this way at all.

The two encounters I’ve had with Marie V have been extraordinarily. She is very kind , patient , joyful, relatable & very helpful! This is the best experience I’ve ever had as a banking customer !
