Montauk Downs is another great New York State operated track.18 holes on a Sunday at 12:03pm was $53 plus $21 for a cart. The recent renovations to the Pro Shop and Snack Bar were very nice, including some awesome photogaphy!Carts are brought to you at the starters booth, and their was even a club cleaning station! The course was really fun. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in great condition. Greens were rolling very nice. Sone of the bunkers were a little mucky, but most were in very good conition. There is danger all around, so accuracy is key. Overall, the course condition was on par with Bethpage Blue/Yellow.I only had time to play for about two and a half hours, so pace of play was important. We completed 9 holes in two hours and fifteen minutes. Reasonable for a Weekend midday.

I recently visited this venue for a wedding. The view and location are very nice. The terrace makes for a great place to relax and have a drink. The food was what is to be expected at a wedding, edible. The staff was very well trained and polite. It was very clean and well kept.

Went to the pool for exactly 8 minutes. Didn't even go in. Started pouring and office will not provide a refund. Asked for a supervisor. Spoke to office staff who just stated "I'm not going to bother the supervisor you just have to wait". Astounding customer support here. Currently waiting over 10 minutes for a supervisor who is "on the grounds". What a nightmare.

Tough to get a tee time June through August. That's the only negative. The course is deceivingly difficult. Usually a degree of wind. Sometimes significant. The par 5's are a nice challenge to get on in 2. The par 3's feature some DEEP bunkers that you'll want to avoid. It's worth the trip.

Great course. Condition is amazing and it’s only getting better over the years. Amazing place to have as a State Course.

Course is in fantastic shape. (Played 7/8/23), 4.5 hrs. Fast greens and some very tall lush decorative grass. Most rough around the greens and just off the fairwars is cut down to keep pace of play. Drive it straight, length is not the game here. Be very careful on approaches and there is fescue bordering and behind many greens and along bunkers. Avoid trouble by laying back to the widest parts of the fairways. Some parts of rough just off the fairways is actually hardpan and you will get some nasty bounces into the trees if you're not precise with your shots.

Best Chicken Cutlet Sandwich around. A true gem of Montauk. All the staff is great, especially Lucy. She is the best bartender in Montauk.

I played the course twice the holiday week of the 4th of July.Overall, I couldn't give it 5 stars because of the silliness and painful process of booking a time. Look, I did it, and it's not difficult, just a bit over the top, shouldn't be this involved. I know, it's a great course, busy, etc. but technology these days should make it easier. The favor to residents of NY is clear, but still I was able to play, albeit from the leftovers as far as tee times, and again probably the busiest four day stretch these guys had in a row for a long time.Reviews I read made it seem scary hard and long. I walked the second time I played, it was hot and sticky, I had no trouble, although I was quite sweaty, plenty of walkers actually. That said, I suspect, and this is ONLY a guess, that they made the course shorter these few days. Here are a few distances, you can compare them to whatever is out there on the web or wherever as far as distances;1: 360-370 both days2: 80 and 10018: 420 and 425. 425 was the longest par 4 on the course, two holes that length.Track, conditions, layout, staff, greens, facilities, all 5 stars. I would again spend the money. The nature, tranquility, and the other things I mentioned are worth it. 4 hours flat one day, 4:20 second time. Once you get past paying the greens fees at the cashier, you are very comfortable and it's easy to feel as you do at your home course.I'll go back, although I will have to save up because I am a non resident.

Why do you allow your maintenance crew to use gas leafblowers while people are coming to enjoy a nice peaceful day of golf. I arrived on a weekend to have to endure a man blowing their entire parking lot and side area (over 30min) to move a few leaves. They also use them all over the course while you’re trying to play. People golf for peace and enjoyment of the outdoors in addition to the sport and this ruins it. So unnecessary. Give them small battery blowers and tell them to use sparingly ! This has happened every time I play there. I’m about fed up.

Beautiful, bucolic spot. I can only refer to the pool which is fabulous! Never too crowded, chairs and shaded areas available in addition to the area being immaculate. I look forward to going to this pool every year. A beautiful place!!! The one thing I remember is years ago they had Shakespeare performances in the evenings on the lawn for a nominal fee. As far as I know they haven't done that in ages

Played 18 back in March, prior to the seasons opening. Greens were aerated and fast. Challenging hills with abundant wind with Locker rooms.

Wonderful course!! Great layout. Really fun routing. The course was in great shape, especially for a municipal track. Inside staff lady was great! They are kind of ridiculous about not allowing riders without a green fee. Vacation spot should allow this for a cart fee or nothing. That was a bummer.

We did not play golf. The club house is very nice. The golf course looks challenging. The view was very scenic and relaxing.

I don't know why it says not kid friendly on google. But me and my son constantly play here and this course is a hidden gem. The conditions are great, and the staff is generally nice. If your a golfer on the east end this is a must play for you.

I have been playing here for over 10 years. I am currently over 8 months pregnant and went with my husband to drop him off for his tee time so we could take a picture on the first tee to show our future baby. Instead of a nice commemorative picture, I was verbally harassed by both the ranger and the Pro. My husband even began to video them screaming at me because the whole thing was so unbelievable. I asked them to please just let me take a picture with my husband on the first tee and I was aggressively yelled at. I was told I would need to pay full price to walk up to the first tee for a picture. I am an avid golfer who hasnt been able to play all year because of my pregnancy and to have 2 men who have never had to carry a baby scream at me and tell me I would have to pay to walk up to the first tee for a picture with my husband on a course we have played every weekend in previous summers was unbelievably sexist. This is still a sport for men and I can't believe in 2020 a woman who is over 8 months pregnant is getting harassed at a public golf course.
