Every interaction I've had with everyone at HQ has been positive. They are polite, listen and advise explaining things carefully. They are also aware at prioritizing urgent requests

Just got off the phone with a lady I believe her name was Karen.. if I heard her correctly. I was calling to stop the auto delivery and the woman was incredible rude to me and hung up. Between their prices and now the attitude I think I made the right decision. Thanks for showing your true colors and making the switch over even easier. I would not recommend this company is you are looking for competitive prices right now or someone at least with manners to speak with on the phone.

For my family, across the board, this may be the nastiest group of people in the state. Anything/any alternative but HQ. The worst experience I have ever had with a utility company hands down. My family experienced Systematic conflict—requesting oil is one thing—but when a “tech” shows up to the house —scowls, bitter, sarcastic and angry at the world, and downright threatening to the point that you have to take off work to be there as a “witness” to this surreal service. Who do they think they are? The certainly didn’t gain that self-imposed power through good work and attitude. Their overall attitude=failure and deserving of 0 stars. The day we ended service with that company, and discovered we had an alternative, was like having the heaviest/most burdensome albatross unwrapped from my neck. Shameful.

Felt compelled to write this review since we ran out of propane tonight. Luckily after a few phone calls they were able to send a technician 11:30pm. Saved us from a lot of hard ache from our tenants the following morning. The technician was polite, professional and prompt. Taking off 1 star, since in general the propane delivery times takes 2-3 days unless I stress the urgency. They probably need more truck locations for prompt delivery within 1-2 days. Which may be a tactic to enroll in their auto delivery. Other than that there are no other issues.

Last year they raised our rates without telling us. The balance due on our balanced billing (which they have had us as a customer for several years, so they know how much we consume) was outrageous. The only thing they did was allow us time to pay it off. After lengthy discussion they took no responsibility for raising the rates without telling us nor that they icalculated our balanced billing. No explanation for how the balance due was so high while they set the balanced billing budget. Recently we fell behind two months in our payment and called for an oil fill when the tank was below 1/4 and was told no, not while the account is in arrears. We asked if we paid one of the two months would they deliver oil. The customer service rep said no AFTER PUTTING MY WIFE ON HOLD AND SPEAKING WITH SOMEONE. Ok. Fine. Then I proceed to find someone who will do a COD oil delivery so my tank doesn't run dry. About an hour later Frank the manager calls me back and says "we can take a one month payment to be able to deliver!" I informed him his customer service rep already said no and I had to get oil elsewhere. He leaves me a voicemail 10 minutes later that if I get oil elsewhere they will void my service contract. I call back for clarification and get Nicole on the phone (the owner). She proceeds to tell me I should have gone over the customer service reps head and spoken to her or Frank, I had done it before why not now? That's what she said, like it's my friggin job! Who did the rep talk to that told him no? The same person I was expected to call? She said they would have sold me a COD delivery... WHY DIDNT THE REP TELL ME THAT!! I'll tell you why, because their customer service is an awful pile of steaming crap. Oil is the same everywhere buy from someone else.

Was told that I needed 4 tanks for my size property. They fill up about once a year. When I asked if I can reduce to the size that fits my household so 2 tanks, they connected me to someone in service who was rude and refused what a sales person had already offered me. Basically it was the sales persons fault for overrating our usage.Update 2022 July 20thStaff calls me to tell me they want to remove all tanks now instead of just the 2 agreed. They now are threatening me to remove all 4 tanks and leave my home with out heat or hot water.I will pursue legal damages against your company.

At the end of the year and on a tight budget coming out of the holidays I opted not to renew my contract due to the drastic price increase. Of course two months later I had an issue with my boiler. I contacted HQ to inquire about a service call and the rep stated I would be charged an hourly rate because I did not have a contract, which I understood. She then asked where I was receiving my oil from now which I did not disclose because I was inquiring about a service call, not oil pricing/ delivery. She then told me to go somewhere else for service before promptly ending the call. I was going to gladly pay for the service tech to come fix my boiler but instead I was told to go somewhere else. Poor business practice. Poor customer service. Poor customer relations. I ultimately would have signed a new contract and opted for automatic oil delivery because I need it but I will take the reps advise and go somewhere else. I will also pass her advice on to others in the market. Any recommendations?

I have been with Halstead Quinn for 15 years now. I get excellent service and I do not run out of Propane. I have had to have my boiler serviced and the gentleman was wonderful. His name was Mike. I like Halstead Quinn and I believe their prices are extremely competitive.

In working with Halstead Quinn for less than 18 months, we've had three terrible experiences. We had contracts with HQ for both oil and propane delivery, and we had a service contract for our boiler. The first issue we had come up was that our steam radiators starting spitting large amounts of water onto our hardwood floors. We called HQ, explained the problem, and they said that they would send out a technician. A technician showed up two days later, and as soon as he heard what the issue was, he responded that he doesn't work on steam radiators, and no one else in the company does either. The person who made the appointment had heard the same exact description of the issue. If they don't work with steam radiators, they shouldn't have implied they do and made an appointment. The second poor experience was that they allowed our oil tank to run out just prior to a weekend where we were planning to travel. They were supposed to be refilling the tank when appropriate, and we had been out of the house a good bit during the period in question. So we had been using less oil than normal, and they still let the tank run dry. They re-filled the tank just before we left, but because the burner had run dry, they needed to send out a technician while we were traveling to fix something on the burner. Thankfully, they did have someone come out. But given our other experiences, we assumed we were returning from the trip to a house without heat. The third experience was by far the most frustrating and expensive (for us) mistake on their part. We have propane heat for a cottage that wasn't being used. They allowed the propane tank to run empty, which meant that the pilot lights went out, and when they re-filled the tank, with no pilot light, the furnace wasn't functioning. The temperature dropped, which froze and burst a pipe in the crawl space. We then needed to have extensive and expensive mold remediation work done in the crawl space.

We have lived in Armonk for 8 years and always have used HQ for our propane ever since the builder used them to fill the tank when he was done building our house. The main reason why I'm writing a review now is due to their service. Even though our boiler is just 8 years old we've had issues with it almost every year. Last year a local HVAC repairman came out and changed the pilot light and coil feeding it, took him 30 min tops and charged me $480!! I was pretty annoyed. The pilot wouldn't start again this year, I tried it myself but no propane was flowing. I called HQ and asked if they did service, they said yes and promptly sent a technician out. He arrived early and even though I messed up scheduling and wasn't home, he waited outside for 20 min. He fixed the issue within an hour and the cost was 1/4 of the local repairman!! Use these guys for your service needs, highly recommend it.
