I have a 2016 Chevy Equinox and have been serving at the dealership. I was told I needed to do 3K work to pass emissions. I panicked because I don't have that kind of money. I called around, and as soon as I spoke to the mechanic, I felt so comfortable. This was the best thing that could happen to me. I found my mechanic. They seemed so family oriented and had time to talk to me and didn't feel like I was being ripped off. I want to say thank you, Surgical Auto Repair. My car is happy again

Sandra is unreal. Professional, communicative, responsive, clear — everything you want in an auto repair shop. This was our first time using their service, and we will be back. They were fast, efficient, and even helped us navigate car insurance requirements. Highly recommend Sandra and her team.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Fantastic car shopCame here because my Hyundai Sonata key was stuck in the ignition port and wouldn't come out. Apparently there is a mechanical issue where the shifter slips and will not release your key. I called so many shops who had no idea what was going on and even the hyundai dealership who tried to schedule me to come in another month.Came across this shop and felt immediately at ease with the rep on the phone despite my panic. I brought the car in and in 20 minutes the issue was resolved by Raymundo (spellcheck) on the name.He was super easy going and was able to articulate the issue. What made me appreciate this experience more was that I wasn't ripped off. I experienced the same issue back in 2018 and my lack of car knowledge got myself ripped off 1500 to replace the entire set up where as this place only charged me the cost of labor.Amazing place. Come here if you are in a pinch and get your car treated by a good set of people!

I paid $4,000 for a transmission on my old Volvo 850 to be rebuilt and put in and one month after the warranty expired the entire valve body of the Volvo was burned out making the transmission no longer usable. I consulted another mechanic (Robert Spinner, a Volvo 850 specialist) who is a specialist in my Volvo and he was on the phone with me and with Surgical and he asked the question "who was responsible for putting the transmission fluid in the transmission so that this wouldn't happen?" and Surgical's reply was THEY were responsible for putting the transmission fluid in. Obviously, they did not put in the right amount of transmission fluid so the valve body burned out after me paying all this money ($4000). So my car had to be scrapped. I foolishly went back to them after I purchased another and even better more powerful t5r series of Volvo of the same model. I had some work done there and at that point somehow my overhead courtesy map light became broken when it was previously working perfectly when I took the car in. I informed the office personnel (Sandra) of the broken switch which they broke and she at that time told me that they would gladly replace the light map fixture since the fixture was now unusable due to the broken switch. After attempting to have them replace the lamp and agreeing to rewrite my previously unfavorable review of their work if they replaced the map light fixture as they had indicated they would, they decided that they (Sandra) were not going to replace my map light fixture thus going back on her word. She claimed to not remember me speaking to her about it. Whether she remembered or not the smart move would have been to replace the lamp for a customer who has spent lots of money there over the 6 YEARS that I had been coming to this shop in order to maintain good customer relations. She felt like I was "strong arming" her. I have spent well over $5,000 in this shop over the years and I thought that was a most disgraceful way to handle a small complaint. Just replace what you broke would have been the honorable and smart thing to do. In addition to that, my newer Volvo was experiencing a transmission issue and their solution was to pour in some sort of transmission treatment which only made things worse. Eventually I found a more qualified mechanic who replaced my transmission for a quarter of the price of the first transmission replacement that I had done on my previous Volvo. So not only did I WASTE my $4,000 but I also found a mechanic who would do it for a quarter of that amount and who has enough honestly and integrity to honor their word to a customer. In addition to all of that..my glove box was removed in order to check the blower motor and the 6 screws were never put back to secure the glove box so it rattles when driving. Now I have to find the replacements and buy the screws myself in order to put them back in. Again an example of poor workmanship. Donald is a good mechanic but the unqualified mechanics that work in there are not. My 850t5r now runs perfectly. The takeaway from this is... If you have a lot of MONEY and TIME to WASTE then this is the shop for you. Especially if you own a Volvo. The SMART way to prevent bad reviews is to communicate Be HONEST and keep your word and respect the customer and their car. Simple!!!I Below is a photo of my car being towed to the scrap yard after the rebuilt transmission burnt out due to their lack of knowledge.? I have lost confidence in this repair shop.

I should've listened to "the haters". never again am I trusting my vehicle with these people ! never fixed the issue, caused more problems and now I'm spending thousands of extra dollars. if you didn't want to do the work then that's ok. say that. but at least diagnose the issue correctly. rather than replacing a bunch of parts that were working perfectly fine. never again

I brought my vehicle to them, concerned about wrench light on dashboard. I then was charged for a tie rod and wheel alignment. After that they said it would go away on it's own. It didn't and I have more problems than I came with. My car now squeals after braking and when turning the wheel. I still have the wrench light on, so what did I really solve? Nothing! They didn't resolve that issue or this. Terrible waste of time!

I brought my 01 is300 to Sandra and her team a year ago, I had trusted them to do the timing and cam seals along with the water pump and thermostat on my car. I expressed in the beginning that if anything broke to reach out for contact, when i got my car back i noticed i was still losing oil but thought it was just remaining from my oil pan leaking. After having my oil pan replaced, i can confirm even after further inspection of the work done that only my timing belt, water pump and thermostat were replaced, not my cam seals, but along with that my front engine cover is broken and there is a bolt that was drilled into the timing belt cover which is stuck. I had spoken with Sandra, and I know it is not here fault, she is not the technician and does not control what they dont inform her of, she did offer to have my car brought back but I do not trust the technicians there to do whats right and fix my car the first time. I uploaded a photo of my broken timing cover and i have a video as well.Service: Engine repair

Surgical Auto... Your car will definitely need "surgical repair" after bringing it to this place. Brought my vehicle in due to no start. Seemed like a good local place. Turned out to be a nightmare! Sandra in the office told me I needed an ECU for the vehicle. After days of them searching for a used one, I decided to get a brand new ECU from Honda. They put it in and told me the car would not start and that it had an electrical issue. After weeks of them keeping the car i decided to bring it someplace else since they obviously didn't know what they were doing. I paid for the installation of the ECU and towed the car to a new shop. The new shop that it was towed to told me that the ECU was never changed and he installed a new one and it started right up no problem. Surgical Auto was supposed to give me a full refund for the ECU since one of their employees switched out the ECU when i was on my way to get the car to tow it to a different shop but then they didn't. Also after receiving my car back from surgical auto, I noticed that my brand new back bumper had many scratches and there was a cut on my tinted window. This place is full of scam artist who just want to take your money. Sandra and the other lady in the office may come off as nice but they are money hungry and unprofessional . DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE!!!!

Took my dodge Durango 2013 to this shop. I went back every 2 weeks to find out what was wrong with the car. After about a month and a half they found out what was wrong. Now to order the part that took another 2 months. Every time I showed up it was we can’t get the piece it’s on back order. Another month pass I was told the piece came in got excited for nothing because now they where waiting to ship the piece to the the repair garage. Another month passed and no piece. They kept giving me the run around. Finally after 5 months in total I towed my car from the garage and took it somewhere else. I was called in 2 days saying my car was done and I could come pick it up. It’s sad that I really was without a car for months and they had no explanation just excuses. I tried to stick it out with them because their a black owned business but I will never go there again or recommend them to anyone. If I could give no stars I would. Terrible service no one never had any answers for me in the 4-5 months my car sat on the street. Paying insurance on a car I couldn’t even drive. I lost money messing around with this company. Never again! If they tell you the piece is on back order don’t believe them take your car and go somewhere else don’t make the mistake I did in trusting them.

I had the same problem as the customer My car would shut off on me and I could not figure out what it was so they did a diagnostic which any diagnostic costs a $150 so its better that you do not have them dodiagnostics unless you want to pay $150 up front after that they found out that the problem was a crank sensor and they told me $721 which was ridiculous price. I had my car towed there so the owner Mrs. Sandra said to pay the $150 don't even come and have the car towed somewhere else because I refused to pay that $721 terrible customer service it is a rip off.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

Dropped off my vehicle for a warranty repair. Danita, service manager, was extremely friendly and helpful. The paperwork was a bit confusing but she made it easy for me to understand.

I took my 2010 Subaru to these guys when it would not start after almost a month sitting at the house but then it took another month to get the car done considering this with my first time wasn't trying to rush them maybe next time give them a time frame when you want the car back and constantly communicate to check up on the progress of the repair so they don't forget but be patient about it so my problem was the engine was bad and that mean I had to get a used engine but they found a good one with two years warranty mine you after 1-year ownership of the vehicle. Cindy and her team did a great job on my vehicle it pretty much had to rebuild the engine almost entirely with new hardware and replaces few pieces here and there even though the price was expensive but then again that's what happens when you do an engine replacement but overall they get a five star from me.

The wife of the owner who claims she is also a mechanic is extremely IGNORANT and very RUDE to customers. She talks over you, is lazy, never follows up with customers about issues, whenever you call and she picks up she claims she has to call you back because she’s eating lunch. Absolute my horrible!! She should never be allowed to interact with the public and I will NEVER bring any vehicle to this establishment.Service: Auto maintenance

I came to Surgical Auto Repair because my extended warranty provider recommended this shop after dealing with some confusion at a previous recommended shop. The staff took the time to address my needs and understand the complexities of the runaround I was receiving. They was able to isolate my issue, repair it, and get me back on the road within 24hrs. A major plus is that they are so close to home. Will definitely use them for all my needs going forward.Service: Auto engine diagnostic

I don’t ever leave reviews but this Is literally the worst place you could bring your car! Not even worth 1 star! They’re extremely unprofessional they’re liars and they will cheat you out of your money! they will try to find anyway too overcharge you! Went in for a water pump replacement with part on hand and they tried charging me $900 just for labor and coolant.
