Dropped off a pair of shoes and a new Rocketbook (an electronic notebook). Apparently they don’t take electronics, which is fine, but the man accepting donations was extremely rude and off-putting in telling us.There are so many other places to make donations in the area, so spare yourself the trip here. I’m not looking for stellar customer service but it a brief thank you would’ve been nice. I’m not trying to pawn off my garbage and by the looks of the other reviews, I’m not the only one who has had issues with attitude for drop offs.

Tried to drop off donations…man was very rude and wouldn’t take anything. Was bags of clothes (good stuff…I throw away anything that is stained or ripped). Boxes of books, etc. “I can’t take this stuff” he said. Will never bring anything else to this location.

I have been donating to the Salvation Army in New Paltz for over 26 years and when I made my donation yesterday I was never so insulted by the attendant in charge of taking the donations at the drop off location. As I arrived with 5 bags of clothing and a set of luggage I was "greeted" by a tall bald man as if HE was doing me the favor for accepting the donations. Not friendly and demanding in a snotty tone what I had in the bags as if I was trying to get away with something instead of just asking me. He was rude and short with me. The questions about my donations were abrupt and with an attitude. I indicated to him that most of the donations were woman's and men's clothing and he grabbed a bag and said "So what is this then?." I informed him it was a shoe, in fact many pairs of woman's shoes. When he looked at the luggage there was a silver piece of tape on the suitcase and she responds in the same snotty way" What is the tape for?" I informed him that it was so we could identify our luggage on the carousel at the airport. The last bag has some throw pillows in it and you would think I was trying to smuggle contraband through the Salvation Army the way he yelled, "We don't take pillows of any kind" I said "Ok, but why the freaking attitude?" He then responded, "You know, I don't HAVE to take any of this" What is wrong w/ this person? Well, I WILL be donating my extra clothing and housewares to other charities in New Paltz from now on. Not once was there a "Thank you for your donation" but only like he was doing me a favor of allowing me to drop off over 2 thousand dollars worth of clothing for the organization. Sad day for New Paltz and the Salvation Army! .

Filthy and overpriced. The entire place is grimy, and charging $2 for a single CD is basically robbery. Mostly clothing, but every corner in here is just crammed with garbage and filth. And not like, cool, buyable filth - just crushed boxes and broken things. Signs for prices are inconsistent. Understaffed, was impossible to find anyone to check out. Waste of time.

One of the best second hand thrift shops you will go to. I could not understand how they had under 4 stars until I read the 'bad' reviews by overpriveledged people who think the world owes them something. Don't believe them. This place is a gem!

Has a pretty good assortment of clothing / furniture! The prices are definitely a little higher than expected / hoped, but if you're looking for something specific, chances are, you will find it here!

This Salvation Army store is not so good anymore. Prices are arbitrary and way too high. Higher end items are now "no color" so they never go on sale if they even make it to the floor. Most better quality items are shipped somewhere else. As a long time customer of this store I am so disappointed. I will no longer donate to this store.
