In my personal experience the staff deserve better, they almost always are available when needed, from what I have seen the stock is always plentiful, the store needs to be updated, space is so limited, I've seen a few of the newer DG stores and they were amazing , self checkouts takes a little bit to get used to but it allows the employees the ability to do more when they're not running a checkout.@Corporate DG big wigs ... Please invest in Newark NY Just like you did for Lyons NY.

The store is an absolute mess! There are products just thrown everywhere on the shelves. Boxes blocking the aisles. Garbage on the floor. One of the employees is extremely rude. We were shopping and she came over and told us if we are going to mess around and not shop then we can get out. We were not messing around, rather looking at items to potentially buy. We weren't being rowdy at all, maybe just talking a bit loudly. She proceeded to say stuff about us loudly to other customers after walking away. The entire time we were there she wasn't doing anything other than standing in an aisle talking and complaining. Maybe this store wouldn't be such a mess if this employee did her job instead of being unprofessional and rude towards customers just because they're not talking at library volume. Dollar General should look into improving this location. Clean up the store and maybe find new staff who ACTUALLY WORK and respect customers.

Staff friendly and efficient. The store is a complete mess. Bare shelves, trollies in the isle's, literal trash on the sales floor.

All in one this store is recommended. On such stores naturally they have better days and days you make quick shopping and just leave.

I see some good reviews on here, but, wanted to share my experience, this evening. I worked 12 hours today and made the decision to stop at the Newark, NY, Dollar General. I only ran in for 4 things. I was headed to the check out and walked through the holiday chocolates isle and Queen Anne Cherries caught my eye. There was almost a whole entire shelf of them. A shelf a good 12-14’ long. A long blonde haired woman, employed by the store was working on the opposite side of the holiday candies, in the same isle. She was pulling Christmas bows off the shelf and loading them into a cart. I politely asked how much the Queen Anne cherries were, as there was not a price tag on that whole entire shelf, nor the product, themselves. Her response to me, was alarming. She replied, “I don’t know, right now.” She continued to work. There was no reason why she could not check the price, for a customer. I went to ask the employee running the register and I could not get to her, as there was 12 customers lined up around shelves and all the way to the doors. Customers were verbally complaining that it was ridiculous, there was only one register open. I agree, as well. I stood in line for a very long time. I pointed out the employee that would not assist in finding a price for an item, not marked, and the cashier let me know, “Allison”, is the employee that would not assist. Very disappointed, Allison could have taken 90 seconds to scan the item and let me know the price. Someone could take 3 minutes to simply put a price tag on the shelf, under the items. Hopefully, if I ever stop at that location, again, the service is more friendly and helpful.Tuesday, December 22, 2020, approximately 5:45 p.m.
