The Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center is the birthplace and boyhood home of the painter Edward Hopper, where he lived for the first 25 years of his life. It is considered a gem in Nyack, New York. This is not the place to see his most famous work, but rather the home his family lived in. Visitors will see some of his childhood work, early drawings, and very personal drawings. The house also includes his wife, an artist in her own right, in the setting, displaying some of her watercolors. Artifacts like his easel, stool, and the work table he built are present.
The house, both for its art and architecture, is interesting, offering a tangible look at Hopper's life. A preserved bedroom and study are on display, while rooms on the ground floor are used for temporary exhibitions of contemporary artists. The staff, including docents and the director, are friendly and full of wonderful information, sharing insight about Hopper, local history, and recommendations. They go above and beyond, making the experience absolutely wonderful and taking it to another level, especially for fans. It is a quiet, thoughtful, very organized, and easy to park place that won’t disappoint.

A great museum to explore the childhood home of Edward Hopper. It has several small sketches of Hoppers and his wife Jo Nevinson Hoppers The tour guide was very knowledgeable on Hoppers life and artworks. If you want to see an extensive collection you Hopper’s works you should go to the Whitney Museum in Manhattan.
