Perfect stay. Great, nice & professional staff. Very clean. Nice rooms. Central to shops & restaurants. Discounts at many restaurants. Loved using their bikes before we had to leave. Very helpful w luggage & ferry info during a weekend when the roads were all flooded.

Our room was small, shabby and way overpriced. The wall art and chandelier are an embarrassment. The room looked like a brothel. The room lacked darkening shades so be prepared to awaken at 6AM. The bathroom tiles were dirty and there were no grab bar in the shower. The commode was so low it would be better in a kindergarten classroom bathroom.

From the moment I made our reservation I knew we would have a great experience! The level of professionalism and efficiency was beyond a 5 star hotel! As a lifelong Fire islander I was impressed not only with the accommodations but the warmth and attention extended to us by Kerry the manager. We absolutely got more than we paid for! Highly recommend!

The staff was very nice and accommodating even before we arrived helping us choose a room because they have a few locations all within easy walking distance. Even though you are paying high prices don't expect a big room, everything on the island is small and expensive. Pros- Very good service they provided you with towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, wagons water - Free breakfast Has bagels, muffins coffee etc. Cons- Rooms are a bit weathered and small - Our room was missing a shade so the room has a-lot of light early

We stayed for 3 nights in the Bay Breeze 3-bedroom suite at Palms Bay at the end of July. Great location right on Bay Walk, next to Matthew's Seafood House and across from Castaway Bar & Grill, where we would go each day for happy hour oysters, just $1.50 each. Loved that it looked right out onto the bay, and had a private sand "beach," with lounge chairs, little bar (occasionally attended by bartender), beach volleyball court right in front, that we used several times a day (also a dock, with kayaks to check out). We (and especially our teenage daughter) loved being right in Ocean Beach, where you can walk to everything - restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, bars, beach; ferries, tons of teenagers everywhere - some staying with families, and many more coming over by ferry for the day.The unit itself was nice and modern, but very small, especially for the price: about $1,300/night, including taxes and fees. Each of the bedrooms was barely bigger than the bed in it, and with almost no storage - no closets, or even hooks, and two of the rooms just had tiny 2 drawer dressers; one room had a full dresser. The bathroom was especially tiny, think like sailboat bathroom - unless you're as skinny as my daughter, you have to turn sideways to get past the sink to the toilet. It says it sleeps 8 w/ the sofa bed in living room, but we were 5 people, and I wouldn't have wanted any more. There's a little kitchenette w/ fridge and microwave, and glasses, but nothing to cook anything; mostly for heating up leftovers from eating out.Several "perks": (1) complimentary breakfast outside by the main lobby - but pretty meager - cereal, store-bought pastries in a bag, yogurt, bagels (but no toaster, anywhere, there or in rooms). Coffee, tea. That's it. We did it once; (2) complimentary champagne in afternoon - why not?!; (3) passport card that got you 10% discount at several of the local restaurants; not bad, when we remembered to mention it; (4) complimentary bikes, kayaks, beach towels, wagons, beach chairs & umbrellas. Service was a bit spotty; here, like many spots on the island, they seemed to be short-staffed, and many of the "workers" were super young kids, like under 14. At one of the local bars, a comedian joked, "I have food in my fridge that's older than the kids working here!" But, overall, had a great time here at Fire Island, one of our favorite spots on our 2-week East Coast trip, especially for our teenage daughter.m

Love the Palms hotel and love the subtle changes the new owners made. My husband and I met in fire island years ago and we come back every year and stay at the palms hotel. Only place we will ever stay. Staff is great. - accommodations great! Highly recommend. -

Staff was very courteous and accommodating; despite disappointing experience making the reservation. when we booked, we paid extra for a room with two beds. We were given a room with one bed and told the second bed is a cot provided upon request; it barely fit in the room and was extremely uncomfortable, considering how much we paid for the room this was very disappointing.

This is our family's third year staying at the Palms. We stay in one of the cottages and have never been disappointed with the quality service we receive from the staff. They are consistently available and friendly. Quickly responding to our needs and requests, always looking to make our stay the best possible. The king size beds are extremely comfortable and housekeeping services are available daily and upon request. All of our requested beach supplies were provided quickly and conveniently, the bikes are always available and I'm still hoping to use one their kayaks during our next stay. The buffet breakfast is always displayed beautifully and full of fresh and delicious options. An added bonus this year was seeing all of the renovations done to the facility. They also now provide discounts for several restaurants as an additional perk! Can't wait to return next year to start off our summer!

Pros: We thought the staff here was very thoughtful and helpful. Jen, in particular, was instrumental in helping me make the reservation and figuring out travel to the island. They also will give you a wagon with beach chairs and an umbrella to go to the public beach and set up your day. Location is right on the main strip in ocean beach. Cons: The private beach couldn’t be used the day we got there because there was a private party. The “private beach” was basically an area near/under a dock with chairs on it with sand. We went back in the evening to the private beach around 9 pm, after the private party was over, and there were random drunk people who were not staying at the hotel and teens smoking pot there. At nearly $700 for a room in the Bungalows, this hotel just did not seem to provide the value for money we had hoped it would.

Went the last Thursday and Friday night in July 2023 with my very picky 20 something daughter. Booked through a third party discount platform and got a good price. It’s a very nice place to stay on Fire Island. We were placed in the “bungalows” which is a separate building 1 block from the main building. It looks just like a hotel minus a reception desk and includes all the same amenities as anyone staying in the main building or any other Palms property. The great thing about The Palms is they can accommodate you to make the most of your stay by storing all your luggage when you arrive off the ferry prior to check in, As well as storing after checkout! including refrigerated items. And you can start taking advantage of the amenities such as bicycles and kayaks etc. The breakfast which was included is continental but a step (or two) above the typical. They offer a daily happy hour which we missed due to not wanting to leave the beach. And they have a private beach on the bay side at one of their other properties that you have access to. This is a bonus in the event of strong winds like we had on our first day and if you don’t care for all the Ocean Beach restrictions which can get you arrested for drinking and eating on the beach! Overall our room was nice. Had everything we needed. Keep in mind it’s not the Hyatt and you are on Fire Island! A very casual laid back place and the elements do take a toll on things. Major humidity and salt air! No rugs in the room so no worries there. Shower curtain was clean and mold free! The staff there is incredible! Each and every employee aims to please their guests! They will help you with anything you need so you enjoy your stay! No need to pack beach chairs or towels from home! They provide that and beach wagons and cold water bottles too no charge! All available before your room is ready and after you check out! Just another bonus!!! Oh and you get a “passport” card with a list of restaurants that give you a discount just because you are a Palms guest! IMO it’s a no brainer for us. If you’ve never been to Fire Island, regardless of where you are staying or if you are just going for the day, my words of wisdom would be, go to the docks behind Mcquires about 20 minutes before sunset to see the best view! And if you didn’t already know, do NOT pet the deer! Yes, they are basically domesticated on fire island after years of being hand fed by visitors but they are infested with ticks! We saw so many people petting them as if they were their family dog. They must be unaware of the ticks and the Lyme disease they can carry! Please don’t risk it for a photo! Go and have fun!

The staff was helpful and so nice. CJ was such a nice person always asking how my trip was going and if I was having a nice time. I had not been to the Palms in a few years and realized with this stay how much I missed it and Ocean Beach. I will be sure to return next year. While rooms are small, the beds and pillows are perfect. For one person, it worked very well.

What an amazing experience! The vibe was unique and the owner was a delight to speak with. He went out of his way to accommodate my every need. The staff doted on me and the rooms, though a bit small, were clean and comfortable and recently remodeled. The amenities are off the chain - you need to bring nothing but yourself and your clothes. I’ve stayed at other hotels in Ocean Beach since they are far less expensive and went running for the ferry by the time the trip was over. This time I didn’t want to leave. I will be back every year from now on and will never stay anywhere else.

Best place on earth and Palms is the best experience on this islandThere is no better place on earth than fire island and no better place to stay than The Palms !!! John R and his staff are the best in the business and treat everyone like family. Rooms were clean neat well appointed and decorated impeccably. I have been going to ocean beach for over 30 years and stayed in some of the seediest summer rentals ever. So to have an actual hotel experience on this piece of paradise was a total treat !!! You will not be dissatisfiedloved itRooms: well appointed and great locationWalkability: there are no cars ....it is all walkingFood & drinks: The landing and the other restaurants that are affiliated with this property are amazing
