I am writing to share my concerns regarding a recent experience my daughters had at this boutique, which turned out to be quite disappointing.
What was intended to be an enjoyable shopping experience became uncomfortable due to a lack of courtesy and proper customer service. Upon arrival, my daughter’s were not greeted with a warm welcome; instead, while looking for a dress & seeing one that caught her eye immediately she was approached & told that she could not try on that dress because it was priced at $1,000 There was no effort to engage her with questions about her interests or budget.
This dismissive approach was echoed by the owner, Diana, which further contributed to an awkward atmosphere. It was disheartening to feel that they were being judged based solely on assumptions regarding our financial capability. Such treatment is not reflective of good customer service and left my daughter feeling uncomfortable.
Additionally, I noticed other customers and staff observing this interaction, which exacerbated the situation. Fortunately, they did receive some kindness from Kayla, a team member who was accommodating and respectful, for the little time they were there but this was not the norm during the visit.
Given the boutique’s “positive reputation” and its ability to attract visitors from far away, I expected a more inviting environment. After discussing my concerns with the owner, it was clear that my feedback was not taken seriously, leading to further disappointment.
Regrettably, I felt compelled to leave this review. I hope that my experience serves as constructive feedback to improve customer interactions in the future. A more personalized approach would undoubtedly enhance the shopping experience for all customers.

Walk into Ask Alice Boutique and you’ll quickly learn there are two kinds of customers: the ones they welcome, and the ones they treat like an annoyance. If you’re a person of color, asking for assistance feels like asking for a favor they don’t want to give. Meanwhile, white shoppers get polite smiles and attentive service. Businesses like this should not be allowed to thrive. Shut them down.

Love this shop. They showered attention and care on my daughter, treating her like a member of their own family. The salespersons seemed more like two sisters and one mother than store clerks. After talking to my daughter and helping her strap up several gowns, Diana pulled one off the rack and told me this is the one your daughter will want. I did not know it myself, but she was 100% right--because my daughter fell in love with the dress instantly without hearing our conversation; and she had it at a beautiful price. Always go to a brick-and-mortar shop for this type of purchase. There's no way around trying a dress on and knowing that it is the right one. Diana's assistants even helped my daughter search social media to make sure that no one else in her class had posted the same dress. They seemed to have a photographic memory about the dresses purchased in our district, outside of Oceanside. I was amazed. Overall, so many dresses for so many occasions, so much individualized care, assistance and generosity. This shop is a blessing!

Asked many times for help, opinions and advice and was given one word responses. But they had no problem helping the young lady with Versace heels or people that “looked” like money. We actually had money to buy today. Never again. Don’t ways your time!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AT THIS PLACE! I wish I could give zero stars. This place is beyond unprofessional. They clearly have no regard for their customers' time or money. Their lack of communication online and even in person with poor customer service, the staff was extremely rude and unhelpful throughout the process, and I couldn't help but notice how differently they treated other customers. I’m convinced they treated me this way because of racial bias they were polite and attentive to others, but gave me attitude and acted like I was a burden. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. Save yourself the stress and go somewhere else

Went to the shop in Oceanside.
I have to first start off saying that when we walked in looking for a prom dress(which cost $500, the relevance of this will be describe below), the attention and service was amazing. My daughter found a dress, we ordered it and it came earlier than they said it would which was GREAT!!
Today we went to pick up her dress. They brought out the dress in a ripped plastic dress bag. My daughter tried it on, not one salesperson came to help us asking if we need help with anything like alterations or if everything was to our liking. My daughter took the dress off and hung it on the hanger. She waited for someone to come and ask if she needed a garment bag so she can take it home, so my daughter wrapped the dress in the same piece of plastic that had holes in it and left. When she came out to the car. I noticed that it was the same ripped plastic bag over this very expensive dress. I then took the dress back inside and spoke with the owners daughter asking her if I can get another cover for my daughter‘s dress I said this one has holes in it. Her response to me was that’s the way it came from the manufacturer. I then said to her OK but I bought it from you so can I get another cover ? I don’t know something where the dress is not going to be dragging on the floor she seemed very annoyed, but she gave me another plastic covering. I’m sorry but spending $500 on a dress and you come out like you got it cleaned from the dry cleaners instead of a boutique to me makes no sense. I told her that even Macy’s gives garment bags when you buy a $200 dress, I don’t think I am asking for much as to put a very beautiful dress in a garment bag it was poor service picking up the dress. We got better service when we were looking for the dress so my thoughts are now that you got the money. we are less of a client? I was very disappointed to say the least. My daughter has referred and recommended ask Alice in Oceanside to all of her friends. The quality of service after your dress is purchased and you go and pick it up should be addressed. It was so distasteful and unacceptable

Go to place for any special occasion dress. Huge selection l, every color imaginable. Bought prom dress in Syosset store. Was too small. They happily exchanged it, and said not to worry, they will make everything right. Small came in and we picked it up in the Oceanside store. They were just as nice and accommodating. Highly recommend. Always shop local small business!!!!

Every sales associate has been very patient and kind. We bought many dresses in Syosset that my daughter wore to bar/bat mitzvahs, sweet sixteens and, hopefully, we will buy her prom dress there. It’s always a positive experience.

Trigger Warning: weight, eating disorder
I went to the Oceanside location to pick out my prom dress with my mother. Jordan was still working there at the time and helped me with such kindness. It wasn’t until one of the older owners walked in and said to me “it would look better if you didn’t eat for the next 4 months”.
As a vulnerable teenager, I listened and ended up developing a horrible eating disorder that I still struggle with. To this day, I will always remember that moment. I hope and pray that this kind of negative and fat phobic way of speaking to customers has stopped, but I find it highly unlikely. The words you use MATTER especially when talking to vulnerable young women.
