Olean Food Barn use to be named Rieds Food Barn as many know. Before it became Olean Food Barn. They had many great happy workers, that knew everything they were doing. Helped quick and was extremely kind. Now, as it being Olean Food Barn. Some workers working the Pop Machines that are in charge of them are rude. Incoherent. I've asked 2 works there for the same thing when a machine was down. Standing in the freezing cold. “Can you help fix the machine it broke?” They looked at me dead in the eye and said “I don't know.” As the other one said “I Don't know about that one, I can't help you with that one. It's broken.” Before they instantly knew what to do. They don't even reset the machine after emptying them. Or just take an extremely long time when they were always quick at it. Going inside didn't help either. The redemption center is so much better, same with Walmart for their pop-can machines. Wish they'd fix that issue with the workers.

after 50 years of shooping at reids food barn, some new owners bought it.After i walked there and shopped for 300 worth of groceries and had it ALL checked out and bagged up, they inform me that they havent been approved for EBT yet!.....no sign informing anyone anywhere.....and now they LOST my business, you cant have an old man go through all that and deny him at the register because YOUR error...i suspect these new owners are half assed "investors" with none of the skill or care for the community that the old ones had and i will never speand a dime there

Complimentary coffee is offered in 8 ounce cups BUT NEVER any lids to fit..This makes it easy to spill and is a sneaky and cheap way to keep people from using it, therefore costing them money.
Try fixing the situation......... Get lids that fit

I really like their bakery but I have to say, its a hit or miss with fresh produce. I almost always find mold on the fresh produce (avocado, berries etc) or they are squishy and soft.
They have seldom, if any at all, organic produce or "healthy" products and are quite costly considering.
It would be awesome if they could have a bit more organic options and take better care of their fresh produce.
So close to me but I rarely ever go there unless im getting a donut as a treat or am in a rush.

Absolutely rude, we are new to the area and had no idea about the cashing a check policy. We were told by tops to stop by and when we got to Ried’s the customer service lady was very nice. BUT when she found out we did have a “yellow card” for cashing a check she called over the manager. The manager immediately can over and was EXTREMELY RUDE to my husband saying how “this isn’t a bank” (direct quote) instead of being helpful he resorted to being rude for no reason.
We will not be going back FOR ANYTHING. I hate leaving reviews but that was completely uncalled for. (We have nothing against the policy, we think it’s a great policy for a small store, but we are extremely disappointed in the management)

They have nice baked goods and deserts and an excellent meat section. Great butchers.
-However- their produce specifically, mushrooms, onions, avocados any sensitive produce is always a hit or miss.
Also their hot food to go, that is self served , and rotisserie chicken do NOT have time stamps on which these items are made. I go to Reid’s often, and honestly 75% of the time the food in the to go, looks crusty and left out for awhile. The temperature at which food is held is critical.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends maintaining hot food at a minimum internal temperature of 140°F (60°C). Food that falls below this temperature is at risk of bacterial growth and should be discarded after no more than four hours.
However I do have to say the staff is always very nice and helpful.

Worker and manager rude to customers and refuses to apologize to customers and threatens to have them arrested because the worker don't want to do their job and the manager don't want to do nothing about it to make things better

The smell of fresh produce. The feeling of home given by staff. I've been living in Virginia for over 15 years, but Reid's Food Barn is one of the reasons I know I will be back to Olean. Exquisite Customer Service, the smell of clean floors and counters, The pot of coffee available for customer enjoyment, those familiar faces serving kindness; I'll be back.
