“I was in need of a jeweler to help me put a steel mesh watchband I'd bought online on one of my watches. I and my wife had both spent close to half an hour trying with no success. Marilyn, a young member of the family that owns the shop, fixed the strap in a few minutes and asked only $5 for her work, but I gave her $10. After she finished with the watchband she advised me about a problem with steel mesh watchbands and we had a pleasant conversation on other topics, as her family is from the Dominican Republic, and I had worked there as well as elsewhere in Latin America. Although the shop is small and has a small selection, it has catalogs from which one can order a larger range of items. It also does minor watch repairs and, aside from that, is a friendly and worthy Latino and first generation American enterprise deserving of our support. “Everything was very organized and the space is quite large and open. When I arrived, only two employees and one other customer were there. I was asked if I needed any help, I didn't, and I was able to browse the entire store. They have a good range of inventory but not a lot of one-of-a-kind beads or stones. This isn't a boho-kind of shop. Things are fairly conventional. The front of the store shows finished items and staff work, some for sale, some just for display. I didn't buy anything this time around but I was very tempted.”
