“A friend of ours suggested we reach out to Torbitt's after we were given a sketchy quote from the dealership we usually go to. We were told we'd need a whole new exhaust system and it didn't seem right considering our car wasn't *that* old. So I called Torbitt's, wanting to get a second opinion. Justin was absolutely amazing from start to finish. He answered all my questions and was very frank with me about what could be wrong with my car. He explained everything in detail and never made me feel like I was wrong or stupid for asking. We found out that my car's exhaust system is fine for its age, it just needed one small repair and the manifold needed to be replaced. They took photos of the parts that needed repair to show me and for full transparency. They even charged me less than what I was quoted because the repair took less time. Again this morning I am having a new issue I am having and once again he answered my questions and gave me advice on what to do. He could've had me come in, charge me for checking my car, maybe threw pieces in my car with hopes of fixing it, but instead he told me that unless the check engine light goes off, we'd just be throwing parts at my car. He gave me a plan of action and I trust if it doesn't work, he and his team will be there to help in an honest way. I'm very grateful after having a really bad experience with the dealership to have found local folks to support who know their stuff and aren't trying to cheat customers. Thank you!”

“After getting a $1,400 quote from the stealership for my vehicle's required 60K fluid replacement maintenance, I decided to call some local service shops for alternatives. I chose to go with Murphy's and there was a slight issue with getting my transfer case oil changed, but in the end I was glad that the mechanic did not put in the wrong fluid, and instead waited until the OEM-specified fluid was available the following week. I was very grateful that the wrong fluid was not used, despite the delay. However, when we returned we waited with the vehicle for the transfer case to be done which took ~45 minutes, just as promised. In the end, I saved ~$500 and now have confidence in another local shop that will do things correctly, even if it isn't convenient.”

“Our experience here was truly exceptional. On the way from Watertown to Rochester our car started to buck and stall as we entered Oswego. Under time pressure we looked for a local garage that was AAA affiliated and found Oswego Auto & Tire. I managed to get the car there and was helped by Steve. What a kind gentleman. It was snowing--he first said to bring my wife & daughter in from the cold. He said they'd give the car a quick look to see if something minor was the problem so we could resume our trip (a medical appt). When it was apparent more time was necessary we made arrangements with a very helpful local car rental office and were able to make our Rochester appointment. While there, Steve called to say the car was fixed and we could pick it up on the way back. This shop helped us immensely in a tough situation. Our car was fixed and the bill was fair. We were treated with courtesy and respect. We saw people come & go while in their waiting area--every person was treated that same way; it seemed Steve knew everyone's name. They--and we--were treated like family. If we lived closer, we would be regular customers. Words really can't covey how they helped us. We are very grateful.”

“My husband and I drove up to Oswego to check out a vehicle we were interested in purchasing for me. He saw the day before that Jake’s Automotive was close by, so we drove the vehicle over for an inspection. Due to some minor things at the dealership, we got over to Jake’s only a short time before they closed, but they were gracious to do an inspection for us. Thank goodness they did! With only a short inspection, they found several major things wrong with the car (in addition to the fact it reeked of cigarette smoke), which would have cost us over $3-$4,000 at least, and advised us to run from purchase. The woman we interacted with was extremely personable, helpful, and knew what she was taking about. They were even kind enough to complete the inspection free of charge! If we are ever in Oswego again and need to have our vehicle looked at, or are looking to purchase a vehicle there, we’ll most definitely be going back to Jake’s Automotive!”
