Beautiful Tudor style home with amazing details inside and the docents were so sweet, knowledgeable, and great with my children. They gave us such a fun personalized children's tour. The grounds were beautiful and wonderfully kept. Be sure to find the playhouse and the garden that looks like a secret garden, I felt like a kid again playing in the garden. What a special day, great people and gorgeous scenery.

Overall the park is nice and well worth a visit. However, be informed that you need EXACT change to pay the automated machines to get your parking ticket. If you don't have $8 exactly, what are you supposed to do? Be lucky enough to find someone who had change of a $10 bill as I did. There aren't workers around, except landscapers, who I doubt carry small bills on them. There's no way to get change unless you leave the premises and get it and then come back, which seems like a waste. If you have the EXACT amount, it's a lovely visit. In order to visit the mansion and the gift shops don't even think about bringing a stroller. There is NO RAMPS if you are disabled or have strollers.I would return again, in another few years. The last time I was here (besides today) was 4 years ago when I was proposed to.Every time I come here (I've been 3 times in total) they always have a wedding going on! It can't just be a coincidence that the only three times I've been there there's been a wedding each and every time.Overall it's beautiful. Well worth the parking fee.

This place never disappoints. Great grounds & trails. Wasn't expecting to hear music hear today, but was pleasantly surprised. The band was actually very good and not intrusive to the environment. Some of their tunes sounded like the actual artist. The band's name if your interested is Peat Moss & The Fertilizers, I was told.

The little "cafe" that they have on the premises is named "SEXY SALAD CAFE"! There are signs throughout the park with the word "SEXY" and every item you buy in the cafe has it written on the packages. Nothing about an arboretum is sexual and people bring their children here. I would be fuming if my 7 year old started using the word SEXY. Cannot believe a state park would allow such an unnecessary and unrelated theme for a cafe that I could instantly come up with infinite better suited names for. I refused to buy anything because I'm sick and tired of the new agenda where we sexualize literally everything especially when it is anywhere near being involved with children. It's weird and gross and I'm not coming back here anymore. Shame on you New York State Park Association.

If you want to recharge your self with nature you should visit this amazing historic park. It is Beautiful and well maintained. We went there in summer and also in fall. Each season has different beauty. It was hard to stay longer inside the green houses in summer but it was much better in fall. You can treat your self in Magnolia cafe and their Philly cheese steak was really good. Coe Hall is opened for guided tours and so many things to see in there.

The Planting Fields has a very nice scenery to take a significant other or the family to view the many florals they have during the spring and summer. The grounds also has a few greenhouses they have some plants that are tropical that need warmer temperatures to thrive. It's also a very popular place where people get their photos taken, but a permit is required for professional photography. Permits cost currently at $100 which is a bit high. There is a parking fee of $8 unless you have an Empire Pass which does cover the fee that it is a State Park. You can rent the Empire Pass from your local library if it is available. Parking close to the entrance can be full at times, so you may have to park your car in the additional parking area. For an additional fee, you can choose to pay to see the mansion on site, Coe Hall. That is where the family who used to take care of the property lived. There is a large area of grounds you can walk around with the family. They do warn visitors to check for ticks since the area does have deer that roam the property. Overall it is a nice place to visit, but it can be busy at times depending if there are special events going on.

We visited Planting Fields Arboretum in May 2023. The parking fee ($8) is reasonable. Planting Fields is renowned for its magnificent gardens, featuring a diverse collection of plants, flowers, and trees. At the heart of Planting Fields is the historic mansion called Coe Hall. If you enjoy outdoor activities and exploring nature, Planting Fields offers several scenic nature trails. It's a destination that offers something for everyone, whether you're seeking tranquility, inspiration, or a deeper understanding of Long Island's heritage.

An original Gold Coast Estate with over 400 acres of rare plants and trees with plenty of trails and fields to explore, plus greenhouses and other structures throughout the grounds. The mansion is exquisite and shows amazing craftsmanship throughout.
