About Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary and Audubon Center
The Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary is a charming small cemetery where Theodore Roosevelt is buried. Visitors may find it surprising that there is no mention of his presidency at the gravesite. The sanctuary also includes the Audubon Center, offering a beautiful environment for exploring nature. It features lovely grounds, trees, bird feeding areas, and a scenic water area, making it a great spot for family outings. Many people enjoy strolling, hiking, or simply relaxing while observing the wildlife and colorful surroundings. The staff is noted for their dedication, especially during summer camp for kids, where children have a fantastic time. Although the sanctuary is not easily accessible for those with disabilities, it remains a peaceful and enjoyable place for visitors. It is recommended to check the schedule for seasonal events and to bring a camera for capturing the beauty of this hidden gem in Oyster Bay, NY.

Beautiful nature center and a few trails in the woods. Lovely place and lovely people! They also offer programming through the year and do great conservation work. Not to be confused with the cemetery next door/ Sagamore Hill.
