I just walked in today to offer some local business as I purchased a new home and needed to get some clear numbers to put on the outside of the home. I've lived in Penn Yan my whole life, yet someone followed me to the register and made sure I put down everything while looking over my shoulder.
I remember coming down to Pinckney's as a child with my father as we found things to repair and improve our home.
One of my first purchases as a first time homeowner and this is what I got. I'm disgusted someone would do that as an original Mom and Pop store or as a general business practice. I will NEVER shop there again.

Great hardware store! Every time I've ever visited, I either leave with what I'm looking for or a solid lead on where to find it. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I like that they have on street parking and a parking lot out back for people like me, who suck at parallel parking lol

Exceptional service & knowledge!! I went into the store needing a new washing machine…I was immediately greeted & assisted. All the right questions were asked to help fit my needs & I was given comparisons to help with my selection. You CANNOT beat shopping local!!!!
