Always glad to shop this store. Good assortment, fresh produce, and helpful staff. What more can you ask for.

Absolutely pathetic management. 2 older female managers couldn't run a lemonade stand. Younger cashiers turn over constantly (probably due to these two flunkies). Smoking outside the main doors is allowed. Produce is left on the shelf past expiration date so you really need to check before you buy. Meat quality is bad and portion sizes are insulting. Very rude staff, most likely a trickle down from these 2 bozo managers who zero people skills. They treat you like your invisible at the self checkout. Just an awful, embarrassment of a store for Penn Yan. Save yourself the aggravation and go to Wegmans.

It's fine; nothing special. Easy parking in their large lot. Not too many gourmet or exciting items. I drove all the way from Penn Yan to Wegman's thinking it would be better than TOPS, but I'm not sure that trip was worthwhile. There was a wider selection of higher-end cheeses but I could have found those in lots of wineries and other stores in and around Penn Yan.

Great full-service grocery store for all of your boating, picnicking, and grilling needs. Organic selection is small but they have it all from bakery items to a deli to a meat counter, and everything in between. Just a reminder that NY state has eliminated the use of plastic bags, so bring your own or use their paper bags.

Absolutely horrendous customer service that I have ever received at a grocery store. I am visiting here for a vacation, getting some things for a 3 night stay. The 3 young ladies that dealt with myself and my party were incredibly snobby and rude, did not want to use the membership for all 3 different transactions...even the cashier under her breath goes "uh yeah, i am not doing that". She gave me my receipt with an attitude when I politely said "thank you",with no acknowledgment. I caught other girls that helped me bag my groceries, whilst waiting for my other party to finish their transaction, talking amongst each-other about us.Icing on the cake was when I noticed prices were extremely high for things I thought were priced differently on the receipt, I went back into line to get some refunds and exchange a bag of potatoes i got for a cheaper one. the "gentleman", while he was finishing with the customer in front of me, I had my back to him, gathering the things I no longer wanted, and I heard him say something but did not know he was speaking to me. He goes "hello?". uhh excuse me? I turn around and he literally says "What do you want?" WTF?! I responded to him and he says "well you're gonna have to talk to him" and pointed at the manager. Have no idea why he was so nasty to me when I didn't even say a word to him. And he seemed pleasant to the people in front of us.Oh, and it gets better....they could not grant me my refund due to customer service leaving. I have never heard of such a moronic system in my life. And then he said "you can take the potatoes that you want" and i said "well the ones I want are cheaper than what i spent". Idiot. His "apology" was so revolting that I feel like dipping in bleach.

TOPS Friendly Markets are presently under Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization but you wouldn't know it from this store. It's really one of the better I've seen considering it seems to be an invasion upon the market territory controlled by the super wonderful Wegman's. Yes, I am primarily a lover of Wegman's but after seeing this Tops along with their superb layout and selections, I have to say I'm a fan of Tops too. This store is super clean and orderly with clean unclogged aisles which makes shopping so much easier. Then, though I never put much into the saying of "the friendly market," I needed some assistance in locating clam juice and a few other items and the person who assisted me couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. Overall, shopping here was a good experience.

I live right near this tops within a 1 minute walk, and I go here almost everyday if I need something quick or need to buy a full weeks of groceries. What actually motivated me to write this review was the kindness of one employee which I will not name, who gave me a dollar when I was about .06 cents short and walked away before I could give him his change. That's excellent service and I would recommend this tops location to anyone I come in contact with in town here, or if someone's coming to town I would speak very highly of them.

Large supermarket and you can practically find anything you need. Being from California, I found the prices to be a bit high tho. However, if you have a club card, prices are very fair. We asked a woman working there if we could open one and she noticed we were driving thru as travelers and offered to give us the discount without the card. Didn't quite catch her name but if you're reading this, thank you!
