Super cool ethnic stuff you can't find anywhere else. Beautiful location and just the right feel of specialty shop for the types of clientele that frequent this area. The original one downtown is still there and the product selection between the two is similar. Much original artwork pieces and jewelry.

I visited this spot earlier this week after a work lunch. The cashier was incredibly friendly and patient as she took our group's order. They offer a wide variety of gelato flavors. The portion size is a bit small, but the crème brulee was delicious! You can also buy bird food (corn) for $1 to feed the birds in the canal. There are also jewelry displays. It's worth noting that there is no seating available inside. However, if the weather is nice, you can find a comfortable outdoor spot by the canal.

Best ice cream shop!!!!I’m surprised they don’t have more reviews. This is the Best gelato in Rochester!Great flavors. Crème brûlée is the best! But we also love strawberry, blackberry, lime, pineapple, mango, espresso and pistachio. Afogatto is pretty delicious too. Very good service.

We bought the only “masculine” ring in the gallery! Communicative seller and knows a guy who can resize anything! The Gelato is incredible as well!

Jembetat Cafe serves espresso drinks and authentic gelato from small art gallery on the Erie Canal in Pittsford's Schoen Place. They even have duck food for the birds. The services was incredibly welcoming and friendly, although the gelato portion sizes are a bit small. I will definitely return again.

I've stopped at this place twice since the summer has started, and I really like it! Both times, I ordered a child sized dish of lemon and mango gelato, and it's so, so good. Honestly, it's my personal favorite summer treat that I've had in Rochester so far. It's located right in the heart of the Pittsford Canal, so it's the perfect spot if you need a quick refreshment. They have a solid assortment of gelato flavors, bottled drinks, and caffeinated beverages... and they also sell "duck food" to feed the ducks on the canal for $1... which is just plain cute. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because the ambiance is nothing to write home about. Overall, it's a super cute little spot and worth checking out if you're taking a walk on the canal.

Mediocre gelato place at a prime location. I've been here a few times. The portion size is smaller than it should be at this location (the one on Park Ave gives normal portions), but if they gave more then people would probably start to realize just how middle of the road it really is. But if you're with someone who insists on eating gelato while walking along the canal, this place will do the trick.

PLEASE do not patronize the establishment "Jembetat Gallery"--either on Park Ave or in Pittsford. I went in for an interview on 07/30/18 at the Pittsford location for an art gallery/cafe managerial position at the Park Ave location (neither of which I have ever been to). In the ad for this position, it is described as a cafe/art gallery job paying $11/hr plus commission. I figured the position was essentially for a jack-of-all-trades at a cafe that also sold art, especially after checking out the website. The ad also states that a college degree is required--despite the pay rate (but hey--I thought being a barista in an artsy place on Park Ave sounded fun!). I also want to mention that the person who emailed me to come in for the interview didn't ask me my availability--he just told me to come in that day between 4-9 PM. When I entered, it appeared that no one was inside. All of a sudden, a man stands up from behind the counter. I observed that he was barefoot and appeared to quite literally be living/sleeping on a couch behind the counter, which was covered in papers/belongings/etc. He seemed disgruntled (like I had just woken him up from a nap) and asked for my resume, seemingly not prepared. I handed him both my resume and a list of references from a folder I was carrying. He then looked me up and down and promptly said, "This is a managerial position at an art gallery...". I awkwardly replied, "Oh--I thought it was a cafe/gallery barista/manager position?". He replied, "Yes, at an ART GALLERY, and you showed up dressed like this. Every other person has showed up in a suit and tie. So this is simply not going to work". I quietly exited the establishment after he dismissed me. This man embarrassed me in public despite the fact that he was literally BAREFOOT in his so-called "art gallery". I showed up dressed in the literal Starbucks barista dress code--dark wash dress jeans, black dress boots and a plain black shawl. My hair was curled and my makeup was done (I spent 3+ hours on it). I also took my septum jewelry out. I have customer service, sales AND admin experience, yet this individual took one look at me and dismissed me. After speaking to a friend of mine about this experience, she told me that she has encountered him before in work-related situations and that her coworkers refer to him as "Barefoot Bob". Disgusting. Another person I recently encountered told me I was "lucky" that I didn't begin working for him. I also want to mention that this individual is an older white man profiting off of the sale of African tribal art in rich white neighborhoods. In the end, this review is purely my experience. Please take everything with a grain of salt. Everything I have said is, of course, "alleged", as it is all based off of my experience.
