Sam Patch Erie Canal Tours provides a unique way to explore the Erie Canal aboard a replica 1800s packet boat. Offering public and student cruises, as well as private charters for families and friends, the tours highlight the canal's history and significance through engaging narration. Guests can enjoy a leisurely 90-minute cruise through Lock 32, a working lock that has been in operation for over a century. Visitors appreciate the ease of purchasing tickets online and the friendliness of the staff. Many have enjoyed themed cruises, including educational experiences where children learn about the biology and chemistry of the Genesee River. While most experiences have been enjoyable, some guests noted interruptions from other passengers. The boat departs from the ticket booth on 12 Schoen Place, with free parking available behind nearby buildings. The tours offer a perfect summer activity, allowing locals and tourists alike to “play tourist” in their own town while enjoying beautiful sights along the river and canal. Overall, Sam Patch Erie Canal Tours is highly recommended for a fun and informative outing.
We had a great time aboard the Sam Patch boat for a kids cruise. My 10 year old and 3 year old loved the experience. It was geared great for kids. The boat was a smaller than we expected (but was nice being smaller) and was mainly indoors (small area to stand outside). Going through the Lockport was a really neat experience.
