Beware of making appointments online at this location. I made an appointment yesterday for a NY state inspection today on their website. I picked the option of dropping off my car. It gave me the option to drop off in different time frames. I chose afternoon, which gave me the frame of 1-6 pm. I received a confirmation email directly after, which to me is usually the be-all end-all.After driving an hour and a half from VT today and arriving at about 3:30, we were told by the front desk employee (who by the way, is extremely rude and condescending) that we would’ve had to drop the car off before noon, and that his inspector had already left for the day. He also said he books inspections about 1-2 weeks out. The confirmation email I received said absolutely nothing about these details and when I had to drop off by, it just let me pick 1-6 pm timeframe. It is extremely unclear and frustrating. This disconnect between online booking and the schedule they go by is the reason why all the 1 star ratings on here are in regards to scheduling that way.To this business- please, please just get rid of the online booking feature if you won’t stay true to it. It’s just useless at that point. Just have phone booking. If you intend to keep it, PLEASE make instructions like when we need to drop off by and what exact day we should be there more clear in the confirmation email. We ended up spending the gas money, ferry money, and dog sitting money for nothing today as I was under the impression my car was sure to be inspected. We scrambled to see if any other auto shops that did inspections were open today, but since it’s the weekend none were open.This service was ultimately extremely disappointing and terrible customer service. I understand one offs in making mistakes and then making things right with customers, but this seems to be a repeated problem based on other reviews I’ve read.

The Monro in Plattsburgh, NY on Smithfield was unable to balance my tires. Smells like they smoked in the truck as well. I usually don't leave a bad reviews but my coworkers warned me and I just went with them anyway. Going to Monro in Saranac Lake tomorrow to see if that store can correct the balance of my new tires

DON’T MAKE APPTS ONLINE! CALL THEM TO BOOK! They don’t abide by them. Drove over two hours for an appt I made through their site. Only one tech and he explained he doesn’t abide by them. Waste of time, gas, and resources for a failed system.

This place is horrible, don’t respect your appointments, made me waste my time twice. Very rude people as well. Better to drive all the way to VIP tires in Vermont. Done! Will never go back to this place.

Very kind man he got my car right in and did an oil change and my inspection for me had it done in time for my lunch break & it was so cheap I questioned the price haha told the kind man I’d leave him a good google review, appreciated his help and affordable prices! 10\10 recommend, will be coming here from here on out! ?

My daughter is a student in Plattsburgh and had a screw in her tire and needed it plugged, as she continued to lose air and couldn’t drive it home over 2 hours away. She made an appointment on line and when she got there, the guy was very rude to her and wouldn’t help her, said he didn’t have any time. Luckily she went to Sam’s club and the took her right in and fixed her tire at no charge. Not all Monro mufflers are like this. They shouldn’t offer on line booking if they just turn the people away who actually book an appointment. Very poor service.

I set up an online appointment for a State Inspection via Monroe's website. It gave me the options to complete a 1030am next day appointment. I showed@ 1030am up just to be told the person didn't have time to call to cancel my appointment. The website overbooked them for a day when they were not doing inspections.Monroe gets your digital systems in place. If you offer online booking make sure you don't waste the potential customers time. This was my first time back to Monroe in over 20 years. Looks like I won't be back for another 20.

I took my car in for an oil change and NYS inspection almost a month ago. The manager informed me that for my car to pass inspection, my car needed new rear tires and brakes. I told the shop to change the brakes, and I would worry about the tires later because I was supposed to be going on a trip the next day. The tech working on my car simultaneously did the oil change and brakes on my car. He took my car for a test drive to make sure the brakes were okay, but while he did this, he forgot to put oil in my engine and the oil cap on. When he realized this, he bought 2 quarts of oil to put into my car to drive back to the shop, still with no oil cap on, causing my engine to seize because oil was not in my car and spilled all over the engine. The tech was still relatively new to the job too. I know things like this happen, but I have not had my car in a month, and now I have to get a used engine in my car, causing the value of my car to go down. I always used Monro Muffler before I moved up here a few years ago and never had a problem. It's funny; this time I went, I had a gut feeling something would happen, and sure enough, something did. I will never go to a Monro Muffler again. The manager apologized and felt bad that this happened. I don't know what happened to the employee who worked on my car, but this shop needs to do better for future customers.

Unbelievably rude. We made an appt a few days ago online and got a confirmation number. We had never been here, but we needed to make a quick appointment. When we showed up the the appt the man said our appt would have to be rescheduled in a few weeks because they overbooked themselves. We were confused and said that we had a confirmation number and the employee said “yeah you and 40 other people.” He then looked down and ignored us, and waited for us to leave. Never coming back here. There are so many other places in the area that are family-owned with better service.

Similar to what the other reviews say, I made an appointment online and received confirmation days in advance, but when I got there I was turned away. The guy at the desk, who was rude, condescending, and unapologetic, told me they don’t have time to answer “yes” or “no” to the online appointments and that he couldn’t take my car for another week and a half. Don’t have this system if you won’t use it correctly! I recommend going somewhere else for car maintenance.

Don't bother making online appointments, they will not honor them, will not contact you to let you know, and generally do not care.EDIT: Sure. You've definitely improved considering people from 5 years ago were saying the exact same thing.
