Deplorable most times. Huge turn over in staff. I do frequent this location as it is in route for me and the prices for my house hold needs are relatively good. Seems like the past 2 or 3 times I have been there explicit music is blasting to the point where it's hard to think about what I need to purchase. This evening I get to check out with 2 items. My one item gets scanned as I am entering my phone number for a discount on my purchase and I'm being told my total before I have finished entering my number, none the less missing my second item. Transaction had to be re-done and I can't even hear what the cashier is saying to me because all I hear behind me is cursing through the music...glad my children were not with me. Don't think I'll be shopping this location anymore....needs an overhaul.

Does anyone check on the night shift crew? 😂
This is the second time I came in later at night and they were playing loud rap music on a portable speaker. So inappropriate for children since curse words were not bleeped. Also nobody was in sight up front. They were in aisles stocking. Anyone can just take stuff and walk out. Very strange.

Somewhat disorganized at time of this review, and the self-serve checkout did not work. Other than that, wide variety of merchandise at fair prices, and a friendly cashier. This branch of Dollar General occupies what had been Pleasant Valley's library. Ample parking in the paved plaza out front.

Dollar general in pleasant valley is the worst I have ever seen it the manger is very rude and lazy you can never find anything always carts full and in the way been there 3 days in a row and still everything that was on full carts still not put away 3 employees there and manger but nothing put away never going back there stuff out dated still on shelves and never any one at.counter.have to look for sometone to ring you up awful used to be a great place to shop but the manger they have now awful lazy

Same thing as the last dude who wrote a review. The employees are NEVER in the front you will literally always have to grab someone if you want to check out. Not to mention they are always rude. The last time i was there i waited, waited, waited, finally grabbed someone and she literally did not say a word to me and instead was chatting on the phone the whole time. Yall are horrible, wasting a perfectly good space for a good business to go.

Oh my.. who is overseeing this place.
Can’t find anyone to ring me up EVER. I’m not getting paid by the hr to stand and wait or look for someone to ring me up.. smh
Every single time I’d go in ther is never Anyone even remotely near the register . I’ll have to go search for them. I’m tryna be in and out don’t have time for all that. If this store was managed properly it’d probably do 5 10x as much business. I don’t think it’s a secret anymore that service stinks horribly. Wth!! I’m local but won’t return. Average wait time is 7-10 mins in waiting when I’m literally only customer in store to ring me up. I’m a cash customer. Disgrace
Hmm... wonder why I’m usually only one in there. ?
Lastly what’s up wit that broken door. It could easily slam n hit u and injure someone. Someone needs firing. Please lmk if anyone else feels me here. Lol

Probably the worst Dollar General in the state. Some days it is just closed. No sign or explanation. A lady smoking a cigarette with a Dollar General shirt yelled at me as I tried to enter one day saying "the store is closed". The staff seems miserable and they told me they cannot even use the restroom in their own store while working. I guess they have to walk down to McDonalds or the Hardware store to pee?! This is a BILLION DOLLAR company and they cannot maintain a restroom for the people running stores for them?! Absolutely disgraceful. No wonder the store looks trashed and everyone they hire is so apathetic.

This specific Dollar General location is unorganized and filthy , and on top of it all employees are nasty , they curse the customers out!! The biggest problem is that the store wreaks of Marijuana all the time. The people that work there are animals ,

The Dollar General store in Pleasant Valley New York is a wonderful location to get what you need. But that's the only good thing about the store. The store manager is verbally abusive and a meeting to new recruits. She has been verbally abusive to customers in the store. I I worked there for a week and a half and end up quitting when she accused me something I didn't do. And I had to back up the customers. Worth her ammo is to accuse new employees of inappropriate actions so either they quit her or she's so calls fires that. Which is totally out of line the store is dirty and out of date product is being sold to customers. They have complaints about this store manager with their inappropriate behavior for not just new employees, but customers as well and the company has not addressed it. I myself of called and they said there's nothing they can do. even the state police say just don't go in there. They are aware of her behavior. Let's make her famous and then stop this from happening anyone else.

Good prices, generally friendly staff. However, the store always seems to be neglected (in terms of cleanliness and organization). There is often only one register open (because self scan is broken and from what I saw yesterday, the other register is broken as well). Being a manager in retail myself, this pretty clearly seems to be neglect by upper management (district, regional, corporate). That store clearly needs some help and tlc, it's been in that condition for a while, it seems decently high volume, so why not make a plan and clean it up?

I always love going into Dollar general in pleasant valley ny due to there great prices and everyone is so nice and greets you at the door. If I ever have any questions someone is always there to assist me. I love when Brian works he is always on the go helping anyone he can. He's a fast and courteous guy who really cares about his costumers. He always has proper respect and always loves a challenge. I always see him multitasking and creating a great safe work environment for everyone. All the aisles are cleared to walk through with carts and shop as go for a great shopping experience. I love this location do to all new staff and Brian is a wonderful worker as well as the new employees. I can see that this dollar general is progressing fast and I will continue to shop there knowing it's a safe environment for all. Fantastic work ethic in this dollar general. Thanks to all the employees for making my dollar general experience amazing!!!!!!
