“The entire staff is welcoming and compassionate. Dr. Harper takes the time to listen and advise the best treatment. The nurses are absolutely wonderful. I definitely recommend the Poughkeepsie office if you have an exotic animal. They were so wonderful with our bunny Max. Sadly Max was too ill and is no longer with us but the understanding and compassion the entire staff showed made the experience so much more tolerable. I will definitely seek their business In the future, should I get any more pet children.”

“Sadly we had to put our beloved dog down a month ago. It’s the hardest decision but what was right. Dr Breite called us since our dog was under testing with his practice and guardian. He gave us advice and guidance. Janet was phenomenal and so empathetic. So professional and so much integrity. In the darkest hours they were there for our families.”
“On December 4th 2025 I had to bring my cat in for an emergency appointment that ended up resulting in her needing to be euthanized. Something I never imagined having to do. She came in, in very fragile condition. Dr Mintzer was very honest patient and compassionate with me, and laid all the options out on the table clearly with realistic expectations. I never believed in euthanasia, but when I asked him if he believed it was the best thing for her his answer was said with such certainty that I was able to put aside my personal feelings to make the right choice for her.
Words can not express the grief, guilt, and the loss that I have felt with her passing, but they can explain how truly compassionate, knowledgeable and just all around good dr he is.
I want to say thank you to Dr Mintzer and his staff for being able to see her and making a not so easy decision a little less painful and for helping her cross the rainbow bridge.”
“I have little experience with other vets - when we first adopted our dog we tried a couple of clinics and such until we were referred here. Since then, we have always come here. And I wouldn't want to venture out anywhere else again. I have always experienced kindness and compassion from the staff and the vets for both my dog and myself!! We had a true emergency some time back and they got us in to be seen really fast. It didn't matter the day or the time.
When my dog has issues that require treatment they always go over the costs as we are deciding on treatment so I know what to expect. I never believed I was overpaying for anything - especially with the kind of care we got for it. ?❤️”

“The entire Valley Vet team is kind and loving and our pets do very well there, despite an anxiety issue with our lab. (Which has improved over time). Their location is convenient, easy accessibility (for pets and humans); and clean. Our boys are greeted and affectionately called by name upon arrival and receive verbal communication through out the visits. Valley Vet doctors are knowledgeable and communicative with clients, explaining at each visit any changes and are open to questions. Reception and assistants are all pleasant and animal lovers too! We appreciate all they do for our boys and that they demonstrate how much they care by going the extra steps to ensure quality care.”
