“Really friendly staff, can't complain about anything really. Prices might be a bit higher than bigger stores but they're also more conveniently located and the people are nicer so it's a trade I'm happy to make.”

“Having just moved in a few miles up the road, I'm sent on a special wine expedition! I feel like Charlie Brown being sent to find the perfect tree!! I discover this excellent excellent wine and liquor store, just 7 minutes away. Tom the owner is delightful and an authority on the local history. The inventory is quite impressive with varieties from all the usual wine-producing countries. We're looking for some good cabs. Instead I noticed a reasonably priced Bordeaux Superieur Le Breton..a French wine for $14.99. Also a trusty bottle of Josh, just in case. The Bordeaux turns out to be really superieur so we put the Josh aside for a rainy day.”

“Very beery impressed. Figured I was walking into a Bud Bud and more Bud place, hoping I wasn’t. A fantastic selection of craft, especially local. If your stays bring you to Red Hook and you want your fridge full of good beer, stop by.”

“Even though due to our own personal circumstances we do not get out for dinner; We are familiar with the restaurant and saw the endearing article the local Kingston Freeman had on Reginato's Ristorante. How could one not want to try it if they haven't or keep it as their go to place to relax with a dinner that's been tried and true for all the years this family has stayed in the area. Congrats to the family.”

“If you need kegs in the Catskills, this is the place. I got married in Roxbury recently and Beer World took care of all our beer needs. Shank, Tor, and Cody made everything a breeze. They held my hand through the whole process, making sure we had enough for 100 thirsty guests plus taps and ice. There was even a snag with one of their suppliers recalling a brand. They contacted me immediately and subbed in a slightly more expensive option for no extra charge. Good beer, great dudes, and a seamless party provisioning process. Thanks Beer World!”

“For years, both I and my boyfriend thought this place was fancy/pricey from the appearance. We finally went in maybe 2 years ago and it's fabulous! The prices are a dollar+ cheaper than some of the other places we go for wine. And one of the guys who works there gives FANTASTIC wine recommendations that are well within our budget! Great place!!!”

“Quite a variety of quality wines from diverse wine regions. Though I've experienced quite a few over my years, Can't wait to explore more here. Tried a decent Governors Bay (NZ) Sauvignon Blanc and we enjoyed it. Can never go wrong with NZ wines. Old style shop ambience was pleasant too.”

“First time in the store and the guy at the register was very welcoming and immediately knew what something I was looking for was and had knowledge of typical inventory.”

“Friendly staff, pretty good selection. Prices for what I buy are okay, but their credit card surcharge is unusually high... almost $1.00 on a $26.00 purchase ($0.98 to be precise).”

“Not the largest liquor store around but has everything you need. A decent selection of wine and booze. Been in here several times throughout the years and never had an issue with people being rude. I Felt I should write this review since I stumbled across all the other bad reviews by looking for a place for lunch. Not sure what your looking for in a Liquor store but if it's booze your after they have it :-) and for the people complaining about the prices, they are competitive it might be a few bucks extra but I'm willing to pay a few dollars more so I don't have to drive all the way to Poughkeepsie... carry on”

“This is an excellent wine and liquor store with very good selection and helpful staff. It is real expensive though. Better on wine than in liquor. If you like scotch and bourbon, other whiskey, etc, you'll find a lot to choose from but you'll pay for it.”

“If you are shopping for wine, THIS is the best shop in the area. The owner is a very knowledgeable wine connoisseur, whose expertise can help you select the perfect bottle. When the owner is not present, an elegant young man runs the store with an extensive amount of knowledge of wines, well versed on the regions & types of grapes, who can spurt off a quick summary of each wine, and help you choose something perfectly specific to what you like. I have gone into this shop, and wirh very little info from me about what I'm lokking for, both individuals helped me to select wines that became my favorites. Both assist shoppers with a friendly, easy going tone, while being so thoroughly educated , that it makes picking up a bottle, a nice, no pressure, easy experience. They have excellent excellent wines that are low price point, along with mid price point, as well as some of the finest most high end wines. Currently I'm enjoying an affordable bottle of cotes du Rhone that I never would have chosen without the help of the gentlemen working at the store. In addition to wines, the store has all the spirits you may need , minus the gross , hangover inducing, and college party worthy liquors that would ruin the classy aesthetic of this wonderful shop.Basically, the offerings of this store fit w the vibe that the interior and the owner have created, a CURATED selection of what you want to be drinking this evening, or bringing to your next dinner w friends.I noticed there where a couple bad reviews, one was prices high- no not true, they have some amazing wines for around $10-$14. They also have the regular liquors at their regular prices. No they don't sell low end barefoot $6 bottles of wine. But ew gross that Would ruin the integrity of the shop.Second they mentioned bad customer service and this couldn't be more wrong. As many positive reviews state, customer service is exactly why the local clientele keep coming back. These reviews of poor customer service e were prob just salty or offended after they came in asking for big box brand cheesy wines like "sutter home" or gross liquors like Jim beam.maybe these people felt out of place when the owner couldn't help them find "yellowtail".When I step in this store, I'm not stepping into some generic big box liquour store and wanting to grab and go because the store & experience of wine/alcoholic shopping feels "ick"... rather, I'm stepping into a classic asthetic of historical wooden shelving, beautiful bottles, and I feel like I could be in France, or Italy, last but not least, the owner and his gentleman staff member respect and love wine, and you want to support a privately owned business like that when you are buying wine.r”
