I have rescued two beautiful dogs from HVARS and continue to bring them both and my other older dog to their clinic. Every employee is always kind and caring to my dogs. I have also gone to their clinic to put my older dog down and the staff was so empathetic to my family and I during the process, I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else to say goodbye to him. I highly recommend HVARS to find your forever family member and their clinic!

We came in as a family many times over the years to have our animals cared for. The past few times we were there, my oldest daughters were looking forward to looking at the kittens while we waited as we were planning on adopting a few more soon. For whatever reason, the staff were incredibly cold and acted she and I were a nuisance for being there or even asking to look and sit with the animals in the room that was open to view. Nothing was even going on at the time. Very upsetting to me. Children and animals should go hand in hand. Must be very strict democratic people running the place now from the top who never had children. No joy. Children should be allowed to see the kittens while waiting. We will probably never adopt from them again.

Such a caring and dedicated staff. The way they run their Feral Spay Clinic is a Godsend to TNR groups. It enables us to make the biggest impact on colonies by not having to make an appointment on 2 days a month. Those ferals are not always cooperative when it comes to appointments! We've been able to fix 9 in the last 2 months. That's 5 females that will not have kittens this spring.

Sorry to say but HVARS has lost the connection with Animal Rescue and Service for those animals. The public / pet owners / rescuers, providing homes and taking in precious animals are being pushed away. Making pet owners wait in their cars while taking your pet in to get checked and given shots is just wrong! Not saying anything is afoul, but when I'm forced to stay in my car, I have to start questioning this practice and why. There is no excuse. The practice of waiting in your car was justified during Covid. Now they are using the excuse of the office being rearranged and too small to accommodate patients and owners. If that is so, at least let us in with our pets during their exams. Excluding the pet owners is just horrible.Just a recap to your response. To the owner of HVARS. I was told by the girl retrieving my dog I couldn't go inside no matter what. That no-one was being allowed inside with their pets and quite a few others were complaining about it. She was fed up with me since she has been hearing complaints from so many other customers about being forced to wait outside. (Just want to bring this to your attention.) I don't know how this has any baring on making things run more efficient, to see patients within 24 to 48 hours. I guess trying not to deal with the public can seem to make any establishment more efficient. Your establishment has seen my dog over the years, yes. I've had no complaints. I even rescued a dog from HVARS. We respect what you guys are doing and would love to keep seeing you if we can come in with our dog. Politely pushing people away who feel uncomfortable to seek full service at a vet hospital is not the answer. People do feel uncomfortable. Less stress is good throughout any visit for customers and their pets but transparency would help ease public trust and welcome more to rescue and care. I'm not saying to stop people from waiting outside, just let us come in with our pets when being seen. Hopefully I can still bring my rescued dog to you, if I can go in with him.

They are always helpful and knowledgeable. They spayed all our young cats at one time which is why we entrusted them with the care of our precious dogs as well.

It's so encouraging whenever I come across an organization that shows pure love for what they are doing and in this case for the animals and thier owners. I had to help my daughter when she needed someone to pick up two stray cats that have become reliant on her. She had them spayed so that they would not be producing more cats without a home. The staff at HVARS were pleasant to me, but more importantly they radiated a true love for what they are doing and for the animals that they were caring for. It seems to be more about love than about money and that is always such an uplifting experience. Right on HVARS...you definitely have my admiration.

They respond really quickly and are both a shelter and a clinic for animals. They responded the same day I emailed and I was able to book an appointment in two days. Very fast and the staff was very nice and quick to answer questions.

They are here for the animals! Prices are the cheapest around but quality is still high. They are curb side still so if this is something your not a fan of it's not the place for you. The doctor does come out to talk to you and they do allow you to use the bathroom and come in for things like euthanasia.

What a wonderful place! We became interested in this shelter initially because we saw a dog we thought we liked on petfinder. Our 15 year old dog recently pass away and we wanted to find another dog join our family. Sam must be the "rescue whisperer" because she matched us with the sweetest lab/pit mix. It's only been a few days, we are getting to know each other still of course but he (Michelin now Theo) and our other dog are already having fun and bonding together. The application process was thorough as was our interview to help find a truly good match personality, size, and temperament. Not the dog we first saw in photos who was not a good a fit based on our individual situation and that dog's personality and various traits. I can see why they have been winning Hudson Valley Magazine's Best Pet Rescue 2 years in a row!

I cannot tell you how thankful for them. I could not rescue 10 feral cats in a year without their help. Their service is great for ferals. Financially it is huge support for me. I got many things free or cost almost nothing from them. They also helped me get kittens adopted. I felt so grateful to have them in the Hudson Valley area.
