Great place for my PR cooking ingredients. To the the reviewer "Theresa" Main Street is fine and NOT dangerous. You must be a transplant. Love tgis place it is not scary at all. Teresa should go back to where she came from. Girl, bye.

I like the market it had a big variety of fruits and vegetables and other things but I was just a little weary having to go around back through the alley to get into the place Main Street in Poughkeepsie is not really a safe place I would say and I was just taking back that I had to go through the alleyway and around back when there is a door right out front that they should probably use it would feel safer to many more people but other than that I found what I was looking for I will return but won't go by myself that's for sure

A dirty, low-end store that sells bad fruits, vegetables and other food items. On top of it, it is more expensive than any of the other supermarkets in Poughkeepsie.

This place is like the fresh food markets I used to go to with my parents when I was a child. Full of activity, well stocked shelves, narrow isles, city vibe. Wonderful!!! Great place to go if you need ingredients you would normally not find at the big box stores. Jamaican, Hispanic flair. Very friendly staff. Highly recommend

They should change there name to Tropical Rotten produce often spoils within a day or 2, the store has a nasty smell, the mangers don't care, their saying "If you don't like, don't buy" other people will not complain

My go to, must visit shop, whenever in town! The entrance is tight and unwelcoming, but walk-in and immediately the fresh pungent scent of herbs and colorful variety of produce envelope and welcome you! Great variety of fresh produce and herbs from Caribbean/Tropics, like the name suggests (and more). The herbs are fresh and well priced with rare items like ajecitos dulce and recao. The Great variety changes so they may have 3 avocado, 4 mango, and 6 malanga/tuber types, and few days later fewer or greater. They even have whole breadfruit/pana! Staples items from Cuba, Jamaica, US Virginia Isles and Puerto Rico. Everything is fresh and food is being stocked throughout the day. They carry regular market produce and dry goods in addition to the large selection of Imports, one stop shop. Why the praise and 4 stars? The staff. Perhaps the reserved unsmiling nature that push customers out of the way to stock is normal for NY. Parking plentiful, paid street and free private rear lot where entrance is.

The entrance is in the back of the store, in an ample parking lot. We heard about the fish dept. through a casual conversation with a mutual acquaintance. So we went for a ride. The neighborhood is a little sketchy on Main St. Poughkeepsie, but don't let that put you off. Once inside you wend your way through a maze of aisles, going past rows of recognizable produce and exotic produce. There's loads of fresh herbs, several types of mushrooms, and vegetables. It's not fancy inside. The shelves carry mostly Caribbean and Mexican products, produce, and household items. But, there are also the same items you might find in a local supermarket. There are Asian items on the shelves as well. There aren't many fish markets up here, compared to the City. The fish section is quite impressive. Whole fluke, mackerel, gigantic porgies, and other whole fresh fish. Further down are fillets and seafood. There is no fishy smell anywhere. The clams close when tapped. Today I checked the eyes and gills of a few fish - clear and bright red. The way there supposed to be when fresh. Bring your own shopping bags.
