I tried several times to connect with a worker for help because the tire light was on when I picked up the vehicle. I not only got disconnected several times, but there was no actual assistance considering the vehicle needed important maintenance. I'm very unhappy because I reached out trying to alert the company that the vehicle may not be safe to drive, because I didn't want to be blamed or charged for something out of my control. When reaching out for support, I expected to have been given a different vehicle. Rather than fixing the problem, I was basically told that the vehicle was fine and to just drive it. The vehicle was in fact NOT FINE, and definitely would not have passed a NYS inspection. The vehicle needs a wheel alignment and could not be driven at an efficient speed, which not only slowed down the whole moving process, but caused me to end up needing more time to return the truck. When I reached out to get an extension for a couple more hours, I got disconnected multiple times again. I waited over ten minutes for a worker only to be disconnected after 2 minutes, severely wasted my time that I could've been using to finish moving, when trying to get the extension. Need a request phone call option to speed things along, the chat is not effective or efficient.

Had my storage unit for some time now and I have to say I am very happy with my choice. The price is reasonable for 24 access to the building with climate control . But, my favorite part has to be the area they make available for all customers to leave what they don't want and others to take if they do .

Avoid like the Plague. I saw ALLLLL the 1 stars but still thought they were my best option. 1st call…. Rude sales rep. A day later they email me the wrong appointment date. I call to fix it. Never received a confirmation. Even though I was told my appointment was set up. So I call the day before the appointment to confirm to find out they never scheduled my new appointment. Then I’m told there are no appointments till after the holidays and I should have called earlier. I did… 3 weeks earlier lol. So I make a new appointment. Confirm that the day before. Head out super early, show up and I’m told, nope they have no one to install but they can sell me just the hitch…. What do I do with an uninstalled hitch? I said this is 3 strikes, no one called to say it couldn’t be installed today even after I confirmed, I’m just calling corporate at this point. To which I was told. Well that will be a waste of time. All they will do is call me (the manager) and they would have to tell me what they are telling me now. They honestly do not care at all about their customers. And I had people tell me the same story before I even tried to go there but attempted it anyway. Seriously avoid this place like the plague. They are rude and completely incapable of running a business.

I came in today to rent a truck that I had reserved via call center and “THE MANAGER” Claranette or whatever her name was told me that someone else had rented the truck after I reserved it a half hour over the phone. So there wasn’t another truck so that means I drove all the way there for absolutely nothing. Very disgusting attitude from the employee and disappointing service from u-hual.

Needed a unit quick. Website says, “1 climate controlled unit available.” I make the reservation. I show up. Woman at the desk says “no, that’s just the website, we actually have no units available.” What’s that about? Now I’m stuck in an emergency situation with no way to store my belongings. Fix the website, and fix your employees attitudes while you’re at it.

If I could have submitted with 0 - I would have. The frustration level with this place - and in particular the General Manager is extremely high. I never write reviews, but with the arrogance of the General Manager, combined with the lack of accountability- I felt obligated to leave a review. I arrived today for the 3rd appointment to have a Hitch installed - only to find out again - parts were not received. When I said this is F*ing unbelievable the GM told me he was cancelling my appt - and the store did not wish to do business with somebody directing profanity at him. Really ? He persisted in arguing with me - refusing to reschedule - and insisting on refunding my card for the deposit - but I refused to give him the card - and I asked for an escalation point to discuss with somebody mature, and customer service oriented. I have never been so frustrated at the collective incompetence - and the arrogance of the store General Manager. PS - in prior dealings the team has always been professional -the General Manager in this case could take a lesson from his team working the store.

It's awful that the company doesn't prorate your time there, having to pay $180 for a storage unit you need for all of five extra days is pretty much robbery, and when I called to find out if the storage units are prorated I was simply told no you have to pay the whole thing and then hung up on.

POUGHKEEPSIE U-HAUL: HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I had a trailer hitch installed and trailer light connection installed a the Poughkeepsie NY U-Haul on 7/20. Last night, (7/29) I had backed the care into the driveway and went in the house. I had to go get something out of the car and I went outside. It was dark and I noticed the green LED lights under my bumper, even though the car is COMPLETELY OFF and locked,I looked closer and saw that lights on the hitch connector were ON, no keys in the car or anywhere near it. Even though these are LED, I realize that this has been draining my vehicle's battery for a week. If i hadn't backed in the driveway and gone outside in the dark, I never would have noticed until my car wouldn't start. I called U-Haul NINE TIMES TODAY, I spent over a total of over an HOUR on hold today, not only did no one EVER answer the POK phone #, the two times the call center picked up, they said would send the POK manager a message to call me ASAP, no one EVER called me back. SHAME ON YOU U-HAUL!

Hands down the worst experience I've ever had customer service is the worst no one seems to know anything or take the initiative to want to help I wish I never put my stuff in storage there the night I went to put my things into the storage there was a homeless person blocking the keypad to sign in with a bunch of garbage Damien from the call center completely ignored my requests and transfer me over to a place where he knew there was no one to help never again will I spend money with U-Haul

I had a hitch installed on my Golf Sportwagen about a month ago. There was a lot of labor involved because the bumper cover tail lamps and rear reinforcement all had to come off. The installation took about 3 hours but they only charged me for one and the price installed for the hitch with wiring was reasonable. When the vehicle was on the ramp my abs light was on. The tech explained to me that u haul has a insurance policy and they would cover it if the vehicle had to go back to VW. Fortunately when they took the vehicle off the ramp the light went out. Even though I didn't need it I was put at ease that they would cover it if there ever was a problem. I would highly recommend.
