Everything about this area is OFF and weird.
Even to stop in for 1 minutes to grab an item from the FRONT of the store, it’s always a “strange” interaction with the employees. And customers too. 😳
Will stick to Manhattan or more suburban, affluent areas…

Formal Complaint – Harassment and Discrimination by Security Guard at Five Below
I’ve always been a loyal Five Below customer and was genuinely excited when a new location opened in my neighborhood. I visit frequently so much so that most of the staff recognize me. Unfortunately, my last two visits have been deeply upsetting and have left me feeling humiliated and unsafe.
During both visits, I was harassed by the same security guard a light-skinned man with glasses, dreadlocks, and broad shoulders. Despite following store policy and checking in my shopping bags, he singled me out and demanded that I also check my personal bag, which contained my wallet and personal items. I calmly explained that I could not leave my personal belongings unattended and continued shopping.
When I completed my purchase and went to retrieve my checked bags, the guard leaned in and whispered, “You’re not coming inside next time with that bag.” I told him that I had every right to carry my personal bag and would continue to do so. His behavior escalated he began arguing with me and, after I questioned whether he had a problem with gay people, he called me a slur twice and told me to leave the store.
As a registered nurse and a long-time customer, I was deeply hurt and embarrassed. I recorded part of the incident, which clearly shows him using profanity and behaving inappropriately toward me. No one should be made to feel unsafe or disrespected for simply being who they are.
This experience has completely changed how I feel about a store I once loved. I’m requesting that this matter be investigated immediately, as this was blatant harassment and discrimination. I hope no other customer ever has to go through what I experienced.

They now make you leave your bags in the front of the store. Like personal bags, which I don’t like. But not everyone. I saw some people with large bags in the store. I understand this is an anti theft policy but it seems ridiculous that this only happens in one store. The story isn’t very organized, it’s such a shame they should just close this location down the one in forest hills is way nicer and cleaner. There needs to be some clear sign that shows that they are now responsible for any items you leave at the front, and if any thing happens to your items under the stores watch they will be held liable. Honestly they probably will shut down soon especially considering the location.

The items here is very reasonable. From clothes to slides. Things for your pet, children and gifts. There are also things for your home.

Store has a very bed order like dead rodents. It’s a health hazard for the customers as well as the employees to breathe that in all day. Please clean it up and sanitize the store. It’s affecting the community that wants to shop there.
