Socrates Sculpture Park is an award-winning model of public art production, community activism, and socially inspired place-making. For over 35 years, the park has provided a platform for over 1,200 artists to create and exhibit new works on its 5-acre waterfront grounds and outdoor studio facilities. The park features a diverse range of past exhibiting artists, including Agnes Denes, Jeffrey Gibson, Guadalupe Maravilla, Virginia Overton, Sable Elyse Smith, Nari Ward, Meg Webster, and Hank Willis Thomas. Socrates Sculpture Park is a free and open-to-the-public space, operating 365 days a year from 9 am to sunset. Managed by a not-for-profit organization licensed by NYC Parks, the park offers a charming green space along the river in West Astoria, featuring beautiful views of Manhattan and Roosevelt Island. Visitors can enjoy the well-designed landscaping, changing art installations, and a peaceful atmosphere for relaxation. The park is also home to a welcoming community, with activities like yoga classes contributing to its inclusive and creative environment. Whether exploring the park for the first time or a regular visitor, Socrates Sculpture Park provides a unique and enriching experience for all.
Hmmm. The area surrounding it is cute. Sculptures just ok. I enjoyed the walk there more than the park. Think in the warm season there is a farmers market.

This is a great place to come with dogs or just for a quick stroll through the park. I love the art installations that changed season by season and I love that there’s tons of dogs around for my dog to make friends with the area is quiet parking is substantially easy to findand there’s a Costco nearby.
